Centre-midfield - we need to take the brakes off

If it was as good as you say it is, they wouldn't be losing by the biggest margin in UCL history in such stupdendous fashion

I can't wait for the new "best way to play football" thing comes along, because I find Tikki Takka repugnant

One bad defeat doesn't define a team.

Years of continuous success on the other hand...

My point still stands that if you play the same all the time without a Plan B it will eventually bite you square on the arse when you face a team who know how to combat you

Aye, I agree to an extent.

But Bayern won't always beat Barca playing like they did. But with a total football approach you also need total commitment, it's no use just throwing all your footballing beliefs out the window when things aren't going your way. Then you're just showing no belief in it in the first place.

It works both ways, a bit. But IMO plan B should come in the form of subs/formation changes rather than Jags or Distin demonstrating the principle of projectile physics.

Your right in that we need to keep playing the way we do, the odd formation change wouldn't go amiss mind you.

But I think Barca probably win so many games simply because of their infinite funding, having the best players in the world and being up against generally poor opposition for most of the season.
The divide between the top 2 and the rest in that league is almost insurmountable and there are only a handful of teams that can better them in Europe simply because of their quality.
For Barca, the tactics and formation are just ways of fitting the players onto the pitch and getting the ball to the best ones, the personnel will generally take care of the result regardless.

Yeah, I mean it's not like they've lost 7-0 on aggregate to a team that completely shut them down both home and away in the past year is it?
How many times have they lost in the past two years Mikey.

Bayern didn't 'nullify' their style, they just played in exactly the same way as they did against every other team.

I don't Bayern in full flight hammering an out of form and almost Messi-less Barça is much of an argument for them nullifying the style as merited as the scoreline was.

Barças style will fall apart if he players are not up to scratch and they weren't in that part of last season.

The idea is to get really good at whatever way you play and stick to it, it's no coincidence Italy, Germany and Brazil head the world cup winners table they play the same way game in game out and have done since time immemorial.

One of the reasons England are so crap is changing their game from what they know.

Martinez appears to be thinking no one has really mastered the "possession game" here and doing so would mean long term success not a fleeting 4th.

The opportunity is there to build the dynasty this club has never had but it won't take 5 mins and people need to keep their nerve.

Have to agree with this and looking at the contracts of players expiring in 2016 it needs to be seamless then.

Surely Arsenal have been following this system for years now though.
