Blue Union Board Angst

I think as well something like a new stadium helps sell a dream.

Players will see West Ham's new stadium and want a piece of that, and these same people may not have done 12 months ago if they saw Upton Park.

It is so circular though. The stadium in reality is 5 years away. Moshiri will want to impress and attract potential funding partners for the building of it, and that is dependent upon a higher profile coming from success on the pitch. That might require, in the short to medium term, the signing of a better class of player.

No involvement whatsoever, mate.

I think it's Dave Kelly and Colin Fitz - although I'm not sure that one of them isn't just with KEIOC.

I dont mind them. They're necessary. What we dont want are owners who are not held responsible, and whatever you think of those people they give a lot of time over to holding power to account at EFC.

Whoever they are, they're not necessary...they are the Victor Anichebe of protest groups...continually injuring themselves and missing opportunities to score. What is necessary is a supporters group that takes up issues with the board/club with mutual respect. You have got to get the club to listen to grievances, not through crackpot 'schemes' but by asking intelligent and searching questions. Even then its possible the board will just do their own thing, but its the best way to approach them.

I must be a crap supporter these day as stuff like this don't bother me any more.

Imagine if you had real problems like that crash the other night on the a34 a mother and her three children died on the scene.

I wish I was at the match tomorrow with my family

How on earth can you deduce financial risk from what I've just written. The risk is attainment risk, can Everton operate at the level other clubs do (CL) on a regular basis? Clearly we have not yet been able to satisfy that concern.

Personally I think football has changed and outside of basically only Barca Real Bayern and Juve, not one other team is totally guaranteed CL football every season. In England no one is safe anymore.

I'd have liked to have thought everton are still held in some regard by players. And I find it hard to believe that we aren't held in high regard by even one of these ''marquee'' players.....

We can agree to disagree on this matter, and I know you will because you are extremely sound, but I feel we could and should have done a bit better.

If they had a 0.1% effect in holding the cockwomble Kenwright to account then it was well worth it.

Too easy a ride given what an utter charlatan he's been for the club.

It's not a question of lack of resource or the requirement to sell to buy which is a false premise brought about by those without full knowledge of the situation.

Surely you can understand why they've drawn that inference based on the summer as all of us have seen it though.

Who really does have full knowledge of the situation? None of us here do.

The Premier League is a highly attractive league for many of the world's best players but there's also the realisation that seven or even as many as ten clubs are competing for four champions league places. We are on the periphery of that group. I believe when the analysis is done that will have been our biggest stumbling block.

Having said that we shouldnt give up on our aim of attracting these types of players. Ultimately we'll attract these types of players which makes recruitment and attainment easier in the future.

I've certainly not given up on this window.

It only needs 1 big move. That' why we should have been and should be continuing to pull out all the stops.

It is very everton tho to have such big goals and then end up settling for something so far short. And that's what frustrates me, we really can't seem to make an impact anymore and shake off the plucky little everton mantra.

Out of curiosity, with the blue tinted specs off, why would top players (especially foreign players) have an regard for Everton besides being a stable PL club? We have a fantastic history but these players were extremely young the last time we won anything and grew up watching CL which we haven't been really been apart of. For example Chelsea doesn't have our history but since Abramovich they've won the CL and the league, which is a big draw for players. It's very much become what have you done lately

This is certainly a step away from the 'everything has changed' line of early summer. In what way would you say what's transpired this window underlines your professed view that the football industry will notice the change in how we go about our business?

All people see are reported interest in the type of players that most other clubs are in the hunt for. That's continuity.

That is true, it's all very 'chicken and the egg'.

Players do like flashyness though and it's vital we get a new stadium asap. It will transform the image and the finances of the club.

I think it's the bolded bit. Players want to play in CL and compete for throphies. Our current results are far from that, we haven't won anything since 95 and haven't been regulars in the CL.

Sadly I don't think the top players want to join in at the project stage when they can join a team already near the top (wistel situation for example: our goal for the future is to be in CL and compete for the title, juve is already doing this)

Europa league would even be a big help
The thing that baffles me is we know there are loads of mercenary players and there was word witzel was one, yet even offering huge wages hasn't been working by the look?
