Blue Union Board Angst

He didn't look happy did he. He was probably promised the world and since he joined he's not been given what he wanted.

I can't for the life of me imagine he will have agreed to stones being sold without a fully fit replacement to come in ready for Saturday?
That's the thing. They obviously didn't care when they sold Stones or how that effected us they just waited until the last minute to get the best price.

You could argue that's good business however from a football perspective it's shocking.

But when I go the match mate you dont hear a murmur. Even when people turned against BK you had others clapping him and having planes flown over the stadium supporting him. On here you'd be lynched for backing him. So no i dont think here or others is representative at all.

And yes I am using last season as the situation in that position hasnt changed. We still only have Rom. Rumours are that he has yes, but has he or his agent said anything lately? No. And if you are into the ITK stuff, our own Esk seems to think he'll sign a new deal.

The reason for selling stones has been done to death. We could only increase wages by 7m plus any non broadcast profit (40m from stones). Why would we splurge all our money, then say city backed out the deal. We would then fall foul of STCC rules and whatever penalties that incurs. Would you have put all our eggs in basket and risked a penalty?
Then do the deal earlier for less money. If we sold him for 40m it still would have solved our STCC problem. A club with loads of cash simply doesn't behave the way we have this summer.

Tbh the club had plenty of chance to brief the media into lowering expectations a touch. Talk of 100 million war chests, 100k (after tax) wages, and blue chip signings seems way off the mark.

Might have been useful if the club had briefed more towards a sustained push, built on gradual development, but they seemed happy for the media (and fans) to dictate the narrative.

Club's need to (and indeed profess to) inform their fans of the direction in which the organisation is going. It's good practice, and its why all well run clubs employ a lot of people, time and effort to communicate with their fans.

I find it astonishing still that Moshiri has never seriously addressed the fans in anything like a serious way. It's the type of ignorance that can be gotten away with in good times, but in bad times it'll haunt him as any future (and inevitable) bump in the road wont be able to be situated and accepted within the overall plan of action the new people want to roll out...it'll just be seen as proof of a failing system.

If that's the way Moshiri plays things then more fool him.

Dave...basically what most clubs do(and most businesses were public profile is involved) is employ people to encourage the perception that the future is bright under their banner, this keeps the troops happy if it works, and even if the troops(fans) misread the signs companies will always have a get out/smooth things over route. Moshiri was at Arsenal , and it is well known, factually(Wenger said so) that the Emirates was financed to the detriment of the player budget. It may well be that we are seeing a version of this method at Everton, but personally I doubt it, I think that maybe next year or after we will see a curb on transfers in if there is high cost involved. For a first window under a partly new regime, we are covering up deficiencies in the squad and by the end of the window we will have a better squad than last year. I have no doubts about that. As you said in your original post, its a results game, and if we start well all will be forgotten.( The now disgraced Blue Union had a rep for only ever getting noisy when the team was on a losing streak) If we have a successful season with Williams, Gueye, Bolassie ,Kone, Lukaku or A.N.Other,and another creative player, will this years moaners be insisting next year that we buy Bale, Pogba and Kane? Probably. Some supporters think it is their right to always want more, and always complain about something. Its a modern sociological problem...anyone as old as me ,or slightly younger, simply wants to enjoy the football. Damn the sodding internet !!!

Well if the new owner read the script properly they'd have known that most Everton supporters deserted Martinez because they wouldn't buy into his ultra-positivity.

Football clubs are not normal businesses. Everton in particular have a fanbase that pride themselves on being able to swallow harsh realities. What they wont react well to is talk about 'giving everything I have' and then being presented with something that falls way short of that.

This is unnecessary damage that could have been avoided. Moshiri and his team have made a rod for their own backs now by not spelling out that in all likelihood (for a time at least) there'd necessarily have to be more continuity and less dramatic change. They've given the impression that the complete opposite is the case (or at least they've made no effort to correct that perception).

Not doubting you here, davek, but I was on holiday in the Algarve when Moshiri gave his short speech.
I was in a very noisy and happy bar and thought he said, 'everything I can'.
I was a bit mollockated at the time, but up until now I thought that was what he had said, which has since been taken out of proportion.
No offence to you, it's just that I would like to know which version is correct.
And I wont take offence if you call me a cloth eared old sot.

He said "I'll give whatever I have". That set a lot of dreams in motion and what we've seen since is a pretty mixed bag:

The pursuit of Koeman was relentless and augured well when we got him. Walsh: well, we wait and see on that at this particular club. The obvious necessity to sell Stones is a massive jamming of the gears though. And the stadium stuff just sounds like the load of nonsense we've been spoon fed with for decades.

No involvement whatsoever, mate.

I think it's Dave Kelly and Colin Fitz - although I'm not sure that one of them isn't just with KEIOC.

I dont mind them. They're necessary. What we dont want are owners who are not held responsible, and whatever you think of those people they give a lot of time over to holding power to account at EFC.

Thanks for the clarification, Blue.
That is a VERY bold and irresponsible statement to be honest.

Well, if we are being honest your views on foreign fans not having a view about Everton as they can't go the game is not representative of Evertonians.

So pipe down you UKIP supporting brexit ding.

Highly debatable.
