Berbatov

He's 31. It would appear that his career has peaked. A move to Tottenham wouldn't be unfeasible. We compete with Spurs most of the time for players. If there was a chance of pulling it off, why wouldn't we throw our hat in the ring? Kanchelskis was too good for us when he left United. Redknapp probably thought he had little chance of signing Van der Vaart. Bergkamp to Arsenal was another that raised eyebrows. If we want to try and steal a few places in the league, we need to look at trying to pull of audacious transfers.

It's not a question of pulling of a suprise signing based on the quality > us theory, the simply fact is we may not have a pot to piss in at this stage. 10mil may as well be 100mil at this stage.

I don't think that Ferguson would sell to his closest rivals. His age would also be a factor. If Rodwell is Old Trafford-bound, it would give us a bargaining chip.

Don't think Berbatov would agree to come to us. Besides, we wouldn't be able to afford his wages.

1 -- He is 3 years old.
2 -- We don't have money to thrown at ageing players
3 -- Rodwell swap for Berbatov ? So we're going to swap potentially world class player for a guy with 3 years left
4 -- Massive wages
5 -- Doesnt fit in the Moyes mould
6 -- See Bilyaletdinov

I want to see YOUNG EXCItiNG PLAYERS.

I'll just let the stats do the talking. 41 goals in 96 appearances for United. 48 goals in 77 games for Bulgaria. 27 goals in 70 games for Spurs. At worst he's a 1 in 3 player.

This is what annoys me about stats! (And I am certainly not having a go at you personally Billy) The stats don't tell you if he grafted those goals, they don't tell you about the team members that set him up, they don't tell you about the one's he missed etc, etc, etc

Someone mentioned Andy Johnson and looking at the stats, you'd wonder about him but, when you saw how he worked his Jatz Crackers off in the box, you'd have to say the stats told barely half of the story! Of course, hard work but small return tells another story...possibly.

I would love to have him in blue shirt just to see hatred he would "provoke" from majority of Everton fans for being such a lazy and not competetive player. And if he would have a chance to miss a penalty with his lazy style (anyone remember Wembley?) it would be even better - bench him, he doesn't want to wear a blue shirt anymore, he doesn't care, etc... I WANT HIM BADLY!

They have been a bit of a feeder club to us in recent years: Howard, Neville Saha....!
Basically, players surplus to their requirements and cheapish.
So we won't be getting Berbatov. Sorry.
