No. 95% of scientists whose opinions you are hearing, concerning global warming, are correct. We are just not hearing about the scientists that have a different opinion.

Apparently due to a Green Initiative, residents have been banned from creating "Fire Breaks", in the off season. This was outlawed a few years ago, with the threat of $100,000 fine to anyone that created one. The result of this is that the fires are much harder to control, as there is nothing to stop them spreading.

I have also seen the news that there have been almost 200 arrests for arson, and that over 85% of the fires are caused by man, either deliberately or accidently. Why wouldn't this be true? This is the cause of most fires anyway.

The news coverage has been pretty much what you would expect - The Global Warning narrative. It is the usual scaremongering. Not one prediction has proved to be correct.

No one is doubting the fires in Australia are out of control, and are devastating. What is in doubt is the cause. It is not, in my opinion, global warming.

Mate you have no clue what you are talking about.

There are arsonists that have started some and also dry storms have started many. I was also reading reports of complaints of camp fires being lit on total fire ban days and then people not putting them out properly so possibly some of these would have started fires as well. There are alot of idiots out there.
Its true that the Green party have had no affect with policy but there are green groups that go around and protest planned burns to get them to not do them. This actually happened in Gippsland last year.

No sensible person is claiming climate change caused the fires though. The argument is that climate change has played a part in creating the conditions for the fires to become as bad as they have.
Things like excessive droughts which reduces moisture meaning things burn easier, faster and bigger, reduced backburning windows due to weather conditions which means fuel loads can't be reduced, record heatwaves which helps fires start easier and makes them harder to control etc.

Yes, arson, accidents and natural fire cycles play a part also, but please don't confuse playing a part with being solely responsible.

I didn't claim they were solely responsible. I claimed global warming was not responsible. I should explain that when I say "global warming", I mean man made global warming. Droughts, record heatwaves etc are a natural phenomenon - They are not happening because of us. They would happen anyway.

So you are linking me to the MSM to make a case against my point with regards to the MSM having a narrative on global warming. Really?

'Apparently' 'I have seen' some stupid comments in my time, but you take the cake buddy.

Yep, you're probably right and the largest bushfires on record, longest droughts on record, biggest heatwaves on record, extreme cyclones, floods, melting icecaps etc all happening in the last few years is just a coincidence. Thanks for clearing that up ;)

My understanding of Australia is there was a reason why it was barley inhabited until us Europeans rucked up...

The first people of Australia seemed to manage its very delicate eco system with fire.

Correct my grandmother is an elder from the kimberleys region far north WA. Stories of countless generations maintaining the local ecosystem thought cool burning goes back many generations they aren’t called the custodians of the land for no reason. Lots of flora germinates from bush fires as well.

however this current situation is a disaster a complete cluster fck of various political policies that have neglected the local environmental conditions. From the greens stupid fire management policies and the current governments head in the sand approach to climate change and environmental substainability I genuinely fear for my future
