Ashley Cole joins coaching team

Would reverse myself.

All opinions mate, we both know different times, always admired Pierce as a influence and leader - when you can be that influential on a game from left back it’s indictube of a very good player, different qualities though I’d accept.
Different times? I'm 51 you clown.

Stop waffling crap. I ain't arguing with you, Pearce was an above average defender with a very decent left foot, Irwin similar. I get the Irish love in with Irwin, but get your head out your arse pal.

You spelt Denis Irwin wrong mate,

Stuart Pierce would be up there with England’s best, Cole could only dream of having that type of influence on a team.

Id have Leighton ahead of Cole too.

Easy to look good in great teams or assembled with millions. Even then I thought he was bit overratted in the English media, because he was English and cultivated those front page headline profiles.

You just said that Cole was only good because of the team he was in, but then named Denis Irwin who sat behind the best winger in Premier League in the best team in the history of the Premier League.

He was part of the Utd team that won the title for the first time in almost 35 years mate, ushering in that period of Utd dominance.

Did a Super Job for Joe at Wembley too

I didn’t say Cole was bad, I said he was a good player not a great player.

Bit more than "ushering in" wouldn't you say?

Yes he was part of the team that started it he signed for Utd in 1990, after playing for Joe at Oldham.

Ferguson obviously picked him out in that Semi.

So he was part of a star studded team. Just like Cole was. You can't exclude a player based on one set of rules and include another when you're discussing who's the best full back you've seen. That's all I'm saying.

They hadn’t won a title in 35 years, in 8 years if we win the title will it be a star studded ready made team.

This thread seems to have little to do with Cole as Everton coach.
Some would argue his playing career might give us an indication on how he might perform as a Coach.
Some would also argue that most of the discussion in here is in theory "on topic", due to people actually, you know, discussing Ashley Cole.
Some might even argue that this is slightly excessive moderation.

Not me tho, not at all.

It feels a lot like some people feel personally wronged by Coles indiscretions as a young man and therefore choose to play down his achievements in the game and hold some weird grudge.

He speaks well about the work he now does, that coupled with having experiences that he can impart on our squad can only help.

Looks like @Tubey's multi has just outed himself
