Your point was that its all Kenwrights fault, when it wasn't

End of discussion, the players where more than capable of winning today, and in the Cup Final, and in FA Cup semi, and in the Europa League against Fiorentina, and in the Carling Cup Semi against Chelsea
You have agrred and disagreed with me on the same point.
But yeah end of discussion

I don't think you are grasping what I am trying to say. Yes we have more quality than Wigan I agree, but we still don't have enough quality to trouble the big spenders on a consistent basis. There is a reason the big spenders are above us and that is better quality. When you say not many efforts on goal well that is down to the lack of quality in the final third. We haven't got quick thinking incisive players because they haven't got the quality that is needed.
There are a lot of teams below us in the league with way more efforts at the goal.
Its part of martinezs tactics but he needs to change them.
I know he is learning but to score you need to shoot.

On way back now. Massively gutted but seen it all before. Barks takes chance he had abd we'd probs come away with a draw at least. But it wasnt our day. Penalty unlucky I thought but haven't seen it close up. Seemed a bit needless? Crucial moment that cos we lost our way then and no way back from there. One thing I learnt today - Arsenal fans are real beauts!! Good team tho.

WTF does ANYBODY risk a penalty in the box ffs? Let the player take you if need be, surely still less chance of conceding a goal than a penalty in most circumstances. The penalty decision was maybe a bit harsh but in the end it was a foul, and a very needless one at that.

At the other end of the pitch, why p*ss about with the ball when you're already two goals down ffs? Sometimes route 1 is the best option, and if you don't score it could ricochet for a second chance, but we sometimes try to play above our ability. It's like the opposite of being blinkered: the players can see the flanks but can't see route 1.

People are vastly underrating our style of football last year.

We weren't stoke and I'm sick of the way people keep slating our team by pretending we were.

Excellent post!!

The first half of last season especially we were brilliant until moyes seemed to tighten the ship after shipping a few goals.

Agree on the pen. Let teams score on merit. Definitely changed game. Sometimes we overplay it and defences are set by the time we're 'ready' for final ball. I don't get the impression we'll ever 'pressurise' teams undet Martinez. He won't be swayed from the way he wants to play which is patiently. We never really forced them back today which sometimes you have to do.

After our great start this season if we had a proper chairman and invested in january we would be fightind for the top 4 and above.
We have no money so we will end up 7th or 8th.
My point is money matters and our failings are down to the useless board and chairman

Useless is a bit unfair. They are just out of their league when it comes to resources.

Stoke beat Arsenal last week, with a far inferior team/squad than Everton have. They done this by playing to their strengths something we did not do today.

Useless is a bit tame.
They have had 14 years to go and find investment, they are not interested.
Us fan let them do as they want.
Money vanishes and they lie to us but a lot still happy clap them.

Oh right! So wigan had quality.

We don't have the quality to play how RM wants us to play. Its a work in progress and will improve. You must remember the majority of the players we have now where used to a long ball game and pressing and defending in numbers for many a year and now all of a sudden they have to play in a manner that is alien to most of them but they have grasped it reasonably well BUT guile is missing and movement is not at a premium and that means looking for players that have those attributes to replace the players that don't. RM will be well aware of this and will try to rectify it sooner rather than later. To turn into the footballing machine he wants us to requires time and carefully spent money.................I do believe we are an improved team/squad than what moyes left us with last season without too many changes and that is down to tactics.

PS before any stats of Moyes and RM are thrown at me, what I mean by improved is individual skillsets and style of play.

I totally agree with everything you say here. :-)

We had no kind of drive, pace or energy. It was walking pace and it's hard to remember many saves that Fabianski had to make.

We did do a huge amount wrong for the first goal but maybe Jags would have dived in quicker to block the shot or even anticipated the pass in the first place.

Our equaliser was about the only time where we put the ball into a dangerous area rather than playing safe and looking for a man.

Barry should have known better than to leave a leg out for Chamberlain to tumble over.

At that point (73 minutes) I would have gone for it. Osman and McGeady for Pienaar and Mirallas is not the change I would have made though. I think we needed Deulofeu's dynamism and Lukaku was looking isolated. If Pienaar hadn't been injured I'd have taken Barkley off, who was invisible for most of the second-half. As it was, I might have sacrificed one of the holding midfielders and gone 4-4-2.

Three of the four goals came from Arsenal exploiting space in behind Baines. Surely we could have nipped that in the bud earlier and Barry could have patrolled that area better.

They were never three goals better than us but, once again, we were toothless. We won't win matches if we can't create chances.

the sort of game we really missed having felli in center mid

I'd say we miss having proper replacements rather than a particular midfielder. Until Barry and McCarthy got knackered from playing every single game they were good enough against pretty much every opponent.
