Disappointed, I won't lie, but not unexpected to be honest - today boiled down to two things:

1. Stamina
2. Mentality

Our day was ruined by one act of carelessness - without the penalty it could have been ANYTHING!

The scoreline itself means nothing, and while there is no place for excuses we have to remember that we've been playing this way for 6 months.... Arsenal have been at it 15 years.

I'd love to tear into the lads, point fingers, blame Joel/Stones/Barry/Osman/Kenwright/Barmby/Maggie Thatcher.... whoever. But I just can't, not today.

Its coming from years of watching him for Ireland and now watching.Pienaar and Kev and seeing the rise in quality we.need to push higher.

Thats why id be surprised if McGeady cements his place and proves good enough to give us that added quality. Its not impossible, but Id be surprised and would prefer two new options in.

Ok, i will bow to your superior knowledge there, but let's hope he comes good.

We are getting better, slowly but surely. Some results lately have been harsh on us, and the beauty of the league is that it normally balances out over the course of a season. I still think we have a decent chance of 5th and an outside chance of 4th, either would be an excellent return for Martinez's first season in charge. Today though, we were outlclassed. On paper, however, we have the class to beat them, and were unlucky not to have done so a few weeks ago, so we owe them one next season.

striker can't do much more than be in the 6 yard box when a cross is fizzed in, think mirallas was actually trying to pass to him myself, but cba to watch in depth.

he's come back and score 2 in 2
Following the ball in is a basic requirement of a striker most of the time. He was extremely lucky that the ball deflected for him to perfectly control it with his bollocks and tap it in.

The better team won today. They have that extra bit of class both in their starting 11 and on the bench. It's a shame we missed chances at 1-1 but it's all ifs and buts. We've got an important month in the league now to,concentrate on, ending with us playing arsenal again potentially to overtake them, depending on respective results. The season isn't over yet.

totally aweful 2nd half did moyes come back and give half time team talk, got to half time and i was happy with 1-1 we were on the up come out second half like a team content to be level, once penalty went in we were like a bunch of headless chickens and mirallas and pienaar need to take a look in the mirror and see if there interested, both were abject whole game, mirallas has the vision of a blind man with pepper spray in his eyes. that game was there for the taking and as usual we bottled a big game, different manager same old same old garbage. really dissapointed with that today, and that goalkeeper can go back to spain, made the whole defense nervous , even when it went 2-1 we played like a BUNCH OF TITS. sorry totally depressed me that game

We were still in it even at 2-1 down. You got to remember Arsenal are better than us and even though we had a chance to progress we were still underdogs. It was the 83rd minute 3rd goal that killed us totally and until then we gave them a good game.

I agree with most of what you say but we have played some exciting football under Martinez and taken teams apart (at least for the first half of the match). I much prefer Martinez in charge than the defensively minded Moyes: football is not just a game of chess, it's about passion too, and Everton excite me far more this season than under Moyes. We still need a few more technically gifted players to be up there with the very best though.
Deffo prefer Martinez to Moyes (so far). We were a decent side under Moyes but for me Martinez has more about him and he's got this team playing more than Moyes did mostly. I agree though; we are a little light on quality in certain areas and it shows in games like today. Enjoyed this season alot up until mid to late January. More attacking by far.

you having a laugh best we were hoping for was 1-1 and stop saying we were underdogs at half time we looked most likely and came out 2nd half poor we had that one chance and once they scored it was game over. i was confident when we played them in league we could get back in it but today we never had a chance

Wish we would get al snidey and nasty, and kick butt, We are too nice, kicking the ball out of play for cheats, everyone likes us at present which is a bad sign.

same old same old tho cant go away to teams like arsenal and look confident of winning , i know we beat utd away but so did west brom and newcastle. under martines we can pass the ball around a lot under moyes we had fight and were more direct , end of the day its still the same old loss in a big game
