Probably because Naismith is so valuable to us helping out the defence...naismith has an excellent engine and for Everton can get up and down the pitch, helping out in attack as well as defence. In fact, the value of having Naismith on board cannot be underestimated as far as Roberto is concerned. He plays Naismith as a forward player, knowing that he is also an extra defender, its Robertos compromise, diluting his 'all out attack' philosophy just a little. Under Martinez, |Naismith or a similar player will always be on the team sheet.
Yes but Naisy played the Kone role in the last ten minutes today, looked ok - our midfield needs moving up, the pitch ten yards to support any of our strikers.

Nothing against him but he just hasn't got the talent or physical attributes unfortunately. He slows everything down by taking about 30 touches every time he gets the ball.

Having said that, Lukaku looks better with someone up there alongside him.

EDIT: Did well for the first goal today.

For the second as well, I thought.

Reading the game I think is what he's on about...and for me that's partially down to game time.

He can hold the ball up and get others involved. Was involved in both of our goals. Those in the 'not good enough' camp need to have a word with themselves.
He should be involved in quite a few goals by his position alone. He's going to be in front of goal, so he's going to be a target for passes up there. Consider how many of our goals Rom is involved in. Then compare the quality of the two. I think Kone has SOMETHING, but he was not very good today. He slowed play down and broke down a few dangerous attacks on his own.
