I work at Liverpool 1 Nando's, and 3 Germans have come in. Woman on the till asks why he's in Liverpool and the lad says he's signing for Everton.
Was a few hours ago and was with a bloke who could be his dad and another who could be his agent.

Said he comes from Wolfsburg. I didn't recognise him but a quick google says he could be Anton Donker maybe?

Take it or leave it he could have been chatting out of his bottom like.

Forget The Esk, Jags is NUMBER ONE ITK on this forum.

Unless its with a view to permanent I dont really get the point.

Kind of seems like we may just be doing Wolfsburg a favour in helping development of their player

...from what I read, Wolfsburg have told him he's not in their future plans. I assume there is an agreement about a permanent transfer if he impresses. Seems sensible to take him on 'trial' for the remainder of the season to determine if he's worth a contract.

There shall be an option to buy otherwise it is meaningless.

Eh. If he fills a need in the u23 side, then at least it helps aid the development of the rest of the squad. Still not ideal, but there is a measure of benefit to this kind of deal.

Do they though? Germany haven't reached the semi-finals of the under 20 World Cup since 1987. They've won one under 21 Euros in the past 30 years, and 2 under 19 Euros in the same time frame. I've no doubt they do things incredibly well in Germany, but their youth teams are not prolific winners at international level, and no more so than English youth teams.
Because they've been moving them into the senior squad. When England got beat by Germany in South Africa they had the likes of Ozil, Kroos, Boateng and Marko Marin in the senior team who were eligible for their U21s.

Take a look at this editorial. If they cared about U21 competitions they could have walked a few this last ten years.
