That's the key thing to consider when calling for violence: who will be the victims of such violence and do they deserve it? History is awash with clear answers on this.

Somebody starts a fight or is otherwise out-of-control aggro: sure, punch him to make him stop.
Somebody has different views to you? No, you don't bloody punch him! This should be obvious..

Appreciate what you're saying, but on occasion, there is a need for a good punch.

Take the imam at Didsbury Mosque who called for military jihad to the likes of Salman Abedi.

People who spread hatred and division need to taste what they're spreading first hand.

With specific individual examples, there is more of a case to make. Just not with a generic punch all people we label nazis/terrorists/warmongers/kopites (delete as appropriate).

With someone like the Imam I don't think a punch would even help, as tempting as it may be. The law has to be able to put people like that away if they are proven to be calling for violence against a specific group of persons (incitement to violence or racial hatred is a crime, after all). Which again reminds us why calling for violence against 'nazis' may be as unlawful as throwing the actual punch.

With someone like Abedi and similar mass-murderers (including the many US shooters we keep reading about), throwing a punch before they get going can literally save lives, 10000000% justified, naturally. Check this brave lad out:

No, I was referring more to the types of people who murdered Jo Cox and shouted ‘BRITAIN FIRST’ at the scene.

justified, one million percent, as you're potentially saving a life or at least putting a stop to further violence. Any people who pose a serious immediate threat need to be dealt with quickly, and sometimes a violent act is the only way. I'm on board, deffo. And the law would have our backs too.

But this?

This is not ok as regardless of what a gigantic tosser of a boy Spencer is, he wasn't posing a threat to anyone, and advocating this leads to advocating even worse down the line.
