Angus 'happily dissatisfied' Kinnear

All I've been saying here is that given nobody else from the club is coming out and claiming otherwise, I am going to believe the CEO when he says that the change to get rid of a DOF was his idea.

He stated this in his first interview on the OS. He repeated it in September with the ToffeeTV lads.

I'm choosing to believe what the CEO said about it being his sales pitch to the owners because I don't have a better reason to assume that it was done at Moyes' request.

Yes, he COULD be lying to take credit for something he had nothing to do with, but given we have NO indication that has happened I am not going to assume it is the case.
Who’s going to come out and give an interview publicly calling their own CEO a liar? Literally just take one second to think about what you’re saying.

It’s not about ‘taking credit’ either, it’s about giving the impression that you are in control. It’s like when brands was here saying he had a great relationship with managers and moshiri etc and everyone was on the same page and then he left and said wow what an absolute clown show that was, moshiri’s an utter loon and I had nothing to do with what happened. I don’t know which of those was true but personally I would lean towards thinking he probably just played the company man while he was here and then gave a more accurate representation after he left. Either way I wouldn’t take his word as gospel because he’s got a dog in the fight, that’s the only point I’m making.

There is no head honcho according to Kinnear.
...said the not head honcho (nobody mention £35mill for Dibling and £25mill for Barry)

Theres ALWAYS a head hocho - a first amongst equals
He was very clear to stress that all signings are made by committee with representatives from the scouts, analysts, and Moyes himself.
Collective Cabinet Responsibility
Any successes; Mr Head Honcho gets to announce them, thus indirectly taking credit

failures - Collective Cabinet Responsibility...nobody's actual (stackable) fault
He was very clear to stress the collaboration he was facilitating.

It looks like it's produced poorly and he's being criticized because Kinnear is the one who decided on this set up, again something he takes credit for a LOT during his ToffeeTV interview in September.

I have no skin in the game but that seems a little bit naive. Without wanting to sound like Mandy Rice-Davies, he would say that wouldn't he? He's the CEO, hes not going to give an interview where he says yeah i'm just an admin head really, the Friedkins set the strategy and Moyes does the football stuff, I just sort of do whatever i'm told like a dogsbody. It's standard corporate speak for someone in his position. That obviously doesn't mean what he's saying isn't true, just that it's a bit naive to think it must be true because he said so.
Lets face it nobody is going to put their hand up to OK-ing the Dibling and Barry deals

Edit; If Kinnear Okayed one and Moyes the other, they'll have mutually decide never to mention it again.

Edit2; 'Somebody' singular or plural Okayed them - they didnt sign themselves

I'm not saying Kinnear is playing deals to be clear.

I'm saying hes responsible for putting together the structure, hiring the key staff, for the analytics and scouting departments that suggested Barry, Dibling, Aznou, and Rohl. I don't believe for a second these were Moyes top picks for anything.

They were put to him after Kinnear picked his chief scout and had the Friedkin's buy an analytics company. Nick Hammond negotiated the deals and he was also a Kinnear hire. Those are the things Kinnear can be fairly criticized on.

There does appear to be another route to getting a contract with Everton, ie purchasing a winning a raffle ticket in The Asda (or regional equivalent), see Barry and Beto.
Albeit someone must have authorised said prize tbf.

I struggle to believe Moyes who in Kinnear’s words “he rejects 99% of players put forward to him”, as Kinnear said in the ToffeeTV interview, ok’d utter [Poor language removed] like Barry and Dibling for their respective fees.

I think time will show, but I can’t see either being players Moyes chose.

The manager always end up getting the blame, for results and recruitement even though they often have very little input nowadays. Moyes will go/get sacked before Angus and co, thats for sure. Then a new manager comes in, rinse and repeat. Safest job in the world for Angus.
