Andy Dunn likes Bill Kenwright

I'm sure that Kenwright has rec'd some offers to sell the club. However I think there is really some truth in him trying to find the "perfect" owner. For every Man City Shiek there are about 20 absolute clowns who do more harm to a club than not. Mike Ashley and the Venkys are disgustingly rich want them? Or how about some of the "marketing geniuses" who would turn the club into Red Bull FC at Everton so that they can sell more cans of their piss or maybe we could have Vincent Tan and be the Everton Red Dragons? Hell compared to most owners Jacko lovin Al-Fayed was probably one of the better chairman in the prem.

Kenwright is skint and makes mistakes (the crest being one of them but to his credit he hasn't doubled down like the idiot HULL FC owners and is changing it) but he has never forced a manager to sell and doesn't interfere in the day to day operations of a club. Now while that should be the norm, its the exception now. In a perfect world owners like Kenwright and Steve Gibson would be the ones with the money.

Well said and at risk of being boring,( this does not seem to worry the anti Kenwright brigade who post ad nauseum, you know who you are) is the reason why he has the support of the vast amount of Evertonians!

Exactly. At least the mods get them to keep it to that one monster thread, just like how all Liverpool posts are kept to one monster thread. It's all very agenda-driven, and doesn't sit well with the simple pleasures of supporting our football club.

I think if Kenwright was a billionaire who could throw money around like chocolate, we'd have a 70K seater stadium with golden statues of all the Everton greats out front and we'd be title contenders every year

Sadly, he doesn't, so we don't.

We could have had a state of the art 55,000 seater stadium in the prime Liverpool seafront location for £35M. Is Kenwright using some sort of memory control techniques in this thread ?

It's a fair article. Not a fanboy piece, but it's not blind to his good points either.

He IS an Evertonian down to the bone. He IS pretty good at picking managers (he's put a clown suit on all the Martinez haters on here), and he is fantastic in the transfer market. I can't think of one instance where we got done by another club. Not one.

On the other hand, his failings are well documented too.

I will say this. Football fans are the best in the world at spending other people's money.

I'm pro-Kenwright. I'm slightly ashamed at how some ultra-blues are against their own kind (the pisstaking of Howard Kendall's drink problem, the ridiculing of Neville Southall's education levels because he worked as a bin man, the vicious slaughter of Bill Kenwright because he's not filthy rich when compared to Sheiks and fat Americans).

In terms of those who post of nothing else apart from anti-Kenwright stuff, I suspect an agenda, driven by jealousy that we have our own as an owner. An agenda well hidden by posting just as much anti-Liverpool to throw most of you off the scent.

Kenwright is not perfect, not by a long shot. But he's a blue and loves our club. And since he's been with us, we've been stable, avoided relegation fights and now the long-term game plan (of regularly qualifying for Europe and challenging for trophies) is looking healthier than ever.

I trust him that he's avoided selling us to some crappy Venky's-type owner, or some moneysucking nastiness like Gillett/Hicks, or even some criminal like Thaksin. Many other owners would have took the dodgy money and run a mile. I trust him that we've not gon into administration because of his steady hand.

Unfortunately, the anti-Kenwright hate is so strong in a minority of very vocal blues (and some secret reds) that the casual observer may think this represents majority opinion. It does not.

Couldn't agree more. Personally I'm proud to have him (a man that clearly loves the club) as our chairman

A lot of people, myself included, don't hold Kenwright in the same regard as club legends such as Kendall and Southall. He gets criticised because he deserves it.

Kirkby was a disgrace and would have been far more damaging to the club's long-term future than a different coloured home kit. We dodged a bullet there.

The asking price is outrageous, especially when you consider that Robert Earl was invited to buy 23% of Everton for £7m in 2007. I'm not sure what the board have done since then to justify the club's overall value increasing by more than £100m.

Maybe his poor, downtrodden Bill act would wash with more Blues if he didn't constantly lie to us. The way he carried on over the Arteta money was ridiculous.

Also:

We don't want £80 seats, mate...I'm quite sure of that.

No danger of that as long as the club doesn't move to London. Hopefully Aldi won't offer to build us a budget stadium on a retail park down there.

Rooney was the only one. We should have got much more than 27 mil for him.

But yeeah, I don't question he's an Evertonian. But he's a businessman and his own agenda comes first IMO.

How about stating that our wage bill is nowhere near bottom? Or that our ticket prices are among the cheapest? Or that our ground can't hold all those extra people like Old Trafford? Or how our global reach is weak when compared to other clubs, so we don't bring in more turnover via sponsors and the like?

So our Chairman makes sure we keep our best players by paying them well, inspite of the lack of turnover. And that's still a problem? Paying top dollar to have Lukaku and co. here is not something you're happy with?

Doing nothing? Have you not been paying attention to the post-Johnson years?

I thought we were past this scaremongering.

Moyes did a good job for us at a time when we needed it. But what you're saying is outrageous.

It's these anti-Kenwright posts I'm talking about. Focussing only on our lack of transfer market power, blaming it on our Chairman, yet in the same breath stating you don't want to be bought out by a Sheikh and renamed something as unnatural as Liverpool Toffees.

Meanwhile, in the real world, our chairman is dealing with Everton's creditors who aren't interested in football matters, doing his best to make sure we remain stable, financially sound and still competitive. I laud his efforts. The bonus is that he's an Evertonian...just like us. I trust him more than I would others.

Now, he's got a Big Statement to make in the January window. The reason we fluffed our lines last season was because we didn't add to our squad. If Kenwright doesn't ensure we improve our squad, he will rightly be criticised. I'd like a statement from him explaining what the plan is.

Let's wait until then to pass judgement. I don't think we're in the mood for Kenwright-hate right now.

...great post
