Andy Dunn likes Bill Kenwright

Normally I find this sort of thing annoying, but Martinez is inspiring me to be more positive, so I'm going to read it as a backhanded compliment.

Of course fans of rival clubs want Kenwright to stay. Everton seem to be on the rise again, but the final hurdle before they're well and truly 'back' is the owner and his mates.

The media is filled with Liverpool and United shills, and the last thing they want is a return to those years in the mid-'80s when Everton murdered pretty much every team they faced. Who can blame them?

Obviously what I've said there is a bit far-fetched, but I don't remember any other historically successful club being constantly implored to limit its ambitions. In fact, when Arsenal took a similar approach - with the difference being they actually delivered a world-class stadium and solid infrastructure - they were hounded for apparently shortchanging the fans.

Groucho has it right to some extent, enjoy watching two world class players to be while you can - Dellbot and Barklay.

All very moaning at BK ( who has faults we know) but what of the others on the board.

Been saying it for a while, as much as i hate kenwright, the rest of them are useless. It scares me that we have elstone running our club, he must spend half his working day on a tanning bed

They're doing things right at the moment.
For me that gives them some respite.
Mostly because why on earth would I want to spoil this amazing ride focusing on that anyway?

Giving Martinez a negative net spend in his first transfer window was a stroke of genius

Who gave what a negative net spend? What?
Look at how we're playing. Look at the performances and the development. My guess (and its an absolute guess) is that Martinez didn't NEED to spend any more at the time (the time being an hour before the end of the window).
Its also clear that he has money to spend in January if he wants.
Who wants to spend money for the sake of it? That's Rodgers' transfer strategy, not ours.

"Investment" - at least in terms to getting to the CL level - is a bit of a misnomer though; as practiced in the EPL it either means getting some dodgy billionaire in with all that that entails, or commercializing the hell out of it so you end up with half the new, souless, expensive and plastic bowl-ground filled with day trip fans from random parts of the world. Either way, Limbs as a concept would slowly disappear from the experience of Evertonians.

BK does have his faults, but managerial appointments doesnt seem to be one of them.

Never mind billionaire investment, the point is he has got no, nada, niet, nicht investment. Not a solitary red cent has he either attracted into the club to be spent or, in fact, spent out himself or by one of his fellow carper baggers in the boardroom. Not one bit of investment in fourteen years.

As for the soulless bowl: well you dont need a billionaire to give you that nightmare...good old traditionalist Bill wanted one to put us in up in Kirkby.

True, true.
He's picked exactly the man we needed both times.

I still want him out, to be honest. Without investment (or regular CL) even Martinez's miracles will eventually dry up, and don't think that I have forgotten about the stadium situation - it eats at me every single day.

His first decision was to extend Walter'disappointing'Smith's sorry Everton tenure for another two seasons.

I'm sure that Kenwright has rec'd some offers to sell the club. However I think there is really some truth in him trying to find the "perfect" owner. For every Man City Shiek there are about 20 absolute clowns who do more harm to a club than not. Mike Ashley and the Venkys are disgustingly rich want them? Or how about some of the "marketing geniuses" who would turn the club into Red Bull FC at Everton so that they can sell more cans of their piss or maybe we could have Vincent Tan and be the Everton Red Dragons? Hell compared to most owners Jacko lovin Al-Fayed was probably one of the better chairman in the prem.

Kenwright is skint and makes mistakes (the crest being one of them but to his credit he hasn't doubled down like the idiot HULL FC owners and is changing it) but he has never forced a manager to sell and doesn't interfere in the day to day operations of a club. Now while that should be the norm, its the exception now. In a perfect world owners like Kenwright and Steve Gibson would be the ones with the money.

Kenwright is a powerless puppet now and has been since he turned a few years ago in order to fight Gregg off to his spiv tax dodging mate Philip Green. He does as he's told now on finances like the errand boy he ultimately is. If Green told him he wanted Everton to play in day-glo orange and call themselves the Everton Hotspurs he'd oblige him, because it's his tune he has to dance to.

Its always the same with Journos writing about Kenwright. As Dave alludes to, it is the fact that if/when the club is sold, Kenwright will make a fortune without ever puttiing a red cent into the club.

Dont begrudge him getting back his original outlay, but profiting from us just stinks.

This will probably start a slanging match but what the heck

I agree with most of the article though. Kenwright may not be the best chairman in the world but I have no doubt that he is an Everton fan

I'm pro-Kenwright. I'm slightly ashamed at how some ultra-blues are against their own kind (the pisstaking of Howard Kendall's drink problem, the ridiculing of Neville Southall's education levels because he worked as a bin man, the vicious slaughter of Bill Kenwright because he's not filthy rich when compared to Sheiks and fat Americans).

In terms of those who post of nothing else apart from anti-Kenwright stuff, I suspect an agenda, driven by jealousy that we have our own as an owner. An agenda well hidden by posting just as much anti-Liverpool to throw most of you off the scent.

Kenwright is not perfect, not by a long shot. But he's a blue and loves our club. And since he's been with us, we've been stable, avoided relegation fights and now the long-term game plan (of regularly qualifying for Europe and challenging for trophies) is looking healthier than ever.

I trust him that he's avoided selling us to some crappy Venky's-type owner, or some moneysucking nastiness like Gillett/Hicks, or even some criminal like Thaksin. Many other owners would have took the dodgy money and run a mile. I trust him that we've not gon into administration because of his steady hand.

Unfortunately, the anti-Kenwright hate is so strong in a minority of very vocal blues (and some secret reds) that the casual observer may think this represents majority opinion. It does not.

Jesus wept! This comment is unimaginably ignorant.

Owners of business tend to want profits from their businesses. Even Kenwright. Tho' because he's a blue, he's not actively chasing profit like most other chairmen.

Thanks pal! You may well be right. I am not in any Kenwright camp tbh, but can see the reason(s) why some have very strong opinions of him. Reading my post back, it does come across as my view of him, but was trying to make the point that the outside world have little idea why some dislike him so much.
