After reflecting on this overnight, now that Silva is available, I think its very likely he'll be our manager by the end of May anyway. He will probably take a break and start going through the squad list in February and formulate transfer plans from Portugal.
I posted yesterday that I wasn't impressed with how he has seemingly taken his eye off the ball at Watford, and the indecisive manner in which he handled the speculation with us.
But the magic word is availability and it gets Moshiri and Co. off the hook big-time in the summer, in replacing a deeply unpopular Allardyce.
It also waives the need for them to do any real homework, yet again, on a new managerial appointment. Silva, the guy who used to manage the club just a bit further down the road than Wigan or Burnley.
It should never come down to an Allardyce or Silva "conundrum" but yes it almost certainly will - and there is one clear winner.
We should be scouring far and wide for the best pool of talent available, why limit it? Granted there will be no Tuchel or Simeone here but we have to find the next Pochettino and he is out there somewhere.
Silva for me is decent, but I'm sure we could do better.
