Just put that in a post a while back, the flags are going up on building today.
It will be harder for them this time as the Taliban now has all the nice new stuff the ANA has given them ,
thank god the airforce got out on mass to Tajikistan or somewhere like that.
Tough lot that alliance , Russians didn't get near them or the Taliban last time.
If anybody backs them they will cause mayhem.

Interesting to hear that first hand view, which is certainly a little more comforting.
Think the worrying aspect from what ive read is the poor state of the Navy. Whether that is just the upper levels exaggeration to gain a bigger piece of the budget, or if there is a genuine concern, the next decade is going to be 'interestingv

Like I said, he's very low level and I think he exaggerates his standing but I do think there is some truth to it.

Over the last few pages I've learned Meghan Markle is going to lead a woke army into action and take over Nato by force before leading a multi-national superdiverse taskforce into battle to safe Afghanistan by the power of well meaning hippy ideas.

I saw her speaking a bit this morning. I was half falling asleep but all I could think of is how she physically looks like a Southpark character lol.

The yanks are supposed to have done survey of the country there are mineral, oil ect according to what they found, rumours of it being in the region on 1 trillion dollars worth , problem being it untapped and you would have to get the infrastructure in place to get it out ,roads pipelines, rail ect and the mines the workers with the expertise ect as well, plus were would you get the fiance from with the volatile war climate there?
Plus if it was feasible the yanks/Russia wouldnt have been so quick to move aside.
I was talking historically in the British case we wouldn't have know any of that.
Anyway as it stands it may as well be on the moon unless Afghanistan become stable.
The northern league have raised there flags today .
If they do what the normally do and keep people out of there land this will not happen any time soon.

They are fiercely independent ,anti Taliban grouping from the pansjhir area of the country, Russians and Taliban have never controlled there homeland.
There old leader was assassinated years a go but I think one of his relatives , maybe his son is the one they are trying to rally behind.
If you recall (sorry don't know your age) they were the ones who were putting the Taliban captives in the back of containers, after sweeping down from their Valleys.
Think they are mainly a different ethnic group than the Taliban.
Formidable fighters in passed form is anything to go by, sometimes there leaders were called warlords before uniting under one banner, a black white and green striped flag.
If the the Taliban had any sense they would be best leaving them be, but there are scores to settle so expect a clash at some stage.

Hard to say, certainly no Angels themselves by are standards .
they hate the Taliban so I suppose if you don't like them they are good guys
Like most things in Afghanistan it's not black and white.
I couldn't give an honest answer,
I think the media will paint them as the good guys.
I always think to myself if I were living there with a family what would I do, but in reality we are brought up with a totally different set of values.
So I don't think honesty any of us have a clue how the normal people out there view things.
If you were living a subsistence existence , little education and next to no outside influences , I can honestly see why the Taliban may appeal to them, they know the people , know the rules, they could feel safer, less crime ,less corruption, no outsiders ect.

It does not matter what I think. I was wondering why indiscriminate carpet bombing of a country where millions live would be your preference.

Yes, people forget when we went in there was still a civil war in Afghanistan.
