Aaron Lennon

Thank god we aren't talking about a suicide today. He must have hid his illness very well. He and his family can now start addressing this rather than him suffering in silence, which is obviously what the poor lad has been doing.
I've been thinking the same as you here.
He must have been hiding it, as we have top medical staff and they would have spotted something amiss, performance wise at least.

I would actually like to see some form of official statement from the club too, to acknowledge his problem and publically support the man. Doesn't have to be much, no specifics.

I wonder if this has been going on for a while though, behind closed doors. He's been out for a while with a mysterious injury, which I don't think was picked up in the last game he played (Boro?). Was it a real injury in training, or something else he was dealing with that the club knew about, but kept silent from the media. Anyone have a grasp on this?

The first I thought of when I heard the news was why it hadn't been picked up on. He has obviously become good at hiding his illness which indicates he may have been suffering for years. All things said, I'm glad for him that he will now get the help he needs.

Tbf Koeman did mention recently when asked that Lennon wasn't in a condition to join the squad so I'd say we were aware something wasn't right,

Onto the business side of things, will his wages and sale value be covered by insurance while he's out/if he retires ?

That is my guess too amd tbh if the club had known about his struggles you would have wanted them to explain his absence with a physical injury if Aaron didn't want the media glare.

Tbh who could have blamed him with articles like the one the Mail are running and having seen how Gazza has been hounded by paparazzi?

Regardless if they knew before, at least they do now and I am thankful that not only will the club have the will to help him but also they have access to contacts in EitC who will know how best to provide that help.

It was mentioned on here a little while ago.

Good news, perhaps there was something in his private life that just triggered a sudden crisis?

Everton winger Aaron Lennon is not suffering from a long-standing mental health issue and is expected to make a full recovery in the short term, BBC Sport understands.

The 30-year-old was detained under the Mental Health Act by police over concerns for his welfare.

He was taken to hospital "for assessment" after police were called to Salford on Sunday.

It is understood his condition is a recent occurrence.

Christ mate - my daughter calls me Mr Robot and says, I'm insensitive and lack emotion and feeling.

You've just made me look like Mother Theresa!

Like others here I'm relieved he's safe right now and gratified to read all the support he's getting on here. Sending the lad nothing but good wishes and hoping we'll be singing his name loudly on Saturday!

Just please keep this conversation going. Here. In the other thread that offers help. In your talks with your friends.
It is important. Critical even.

Mental health care should be as easy as making a dentist appointment or an eye exam. Absolutely no reason at all that anyone should feel the best course of action is taking their life instead of getting some help.
