Aaron Lennon

He's ok but to be honest I cant see him starting more than 6 games this season barring a major major injury crisis. No way should he get in ahead of Mirallas or Deulofeu - so where does that leave him? Cleverly is out for 2 months ATM and I still don't see how Lennon can get a start. Similar to the Mori situation in that I just don't think he will contribute enough and at the price quoted that is unacceptable.

Well we've already panicked by paying 10m for an unproven South American defender, I don't see why our hand cant be forced again for Lennon. We're clearly being played as clowns in this window.

To be fair the only good deal we have got in recent years is Gerard. And even there we were probably fleeced - if he's any good Barca take him back, if he fails, we are stuck with him.

multiple issues with this signing.
the fee - which could be 5m is far too much for a player who will be out of contract.
the age - 29 this season.
the goal return - non-existent for a player who you would hope offers some kind of attacking threat. he will probably dispossess kev as a first teamer who offers much more goal return.
takes up a squad place - del who is in reality a 15-20m player but cost us only 4m be cause he loves the club is now relegated to spot duty presumably as a result of this signing.
all in all a waste of time and as bad if not worse than the ridiculous 10m mori signing.

Oh Kev :(

Guilty as charged m'lud. (In respect that I didn't think he was worth anywheres near the £9m or so that the shylock levy wanted for him)

Don't mind having me eyes wiped now & again. Playing a whole lot better than I thought he'd do...Which is every bit as good as Mirallas, at his best for us.

Carry on, lad. ;)
Hat's off for piping up. I just wonder what there was in terms of evidence that made you think his loan spell at Everton didn't warrant a purchase? He came in last season and turned our fortunes around with the directness and energy he brought with him.

He's carried it on since he got back in the team this season. And he was prepared to show character and wait patiently. Unlike that Belgian nobhead he's twice the player of.

I suppose I let me cynicism get the the better of me, by thinking he was playing for a contract. Knew he was an alright player, but baulked at levy's valuation of £9m's worth of alright. Turned out that it seemed about right, on Lennon's current form.

There was that, and them photos...

thought he was 4 million ?

I said signing this guy when we did was a no-brainier. Amazed we didn't have much competition for him. Great quality player on his day, although that isn't every match, let's face it you only get that sort of consistency if you can afford Messi

Underrated because he seemed underwhelming at Spurs, but that's because Spurs were underwhelming as a team (they aren't now obviously).

He's been one of the best signings in recent years, in my opinion, and one of our most important players at the moment.

Lets not forget that it could easily have been the proven quality of Aids McGeedy trying to punch a hole through that Chelsea back 4 on Saturday (but for the grace of Levy)

His work-rate is something to behold.

Actually has a some pace and ability to go with his work-rate, too.

Great signing.

Amazing to think that the lad's still only 27. I've said previously in this thread that he really should be playing the best football of his career, and by jove, he is indeed :)
