A Case for the Defence

Says everything about Martinez that he cites the Lukaku penalty miss as the decisive moment and takes no responsibility for his abysmal subs.

A coward that has thrown a young player [who has, let's be honest, carried him] under a bus

Coward.

A prime example amongst many, nothing is ever his fault.

Plus how clever is that, laying the blame for losing the game on the striker who has almost single handidly kept the team going with his goals all season and also having a pop at the fans too - " the fans were great for 70 mins ".

It's hard to defend the fella really.

Genuinely cannot wait to find our he has been dismissed by the new owner. All the snide little stories the newspapers have sat on will come out and, I guarantee, will never get a job anywhere near the size of Everton
Would make a great manager in the MLS

Here's case with all the reasons to keep Martinez in it

Great thread.

Whatever you think of the manager, he's going to be in charge until the end of the season, we know that's almost certain. So for the Martinez out group, try and remain quiet for the remaining games because what good is going to come out of moaning, booing etc.? Absolutely nothing.

I want him in for all reasons mentioned and also because of my stupid username..

I'm in the Martinez 'in' camp mate, but I think the lads who are against him have every right to voice their concerns, if they aren't allowed their say, GOT might as well change it's name to Bluekipper! (agree though with not booing at the ground)

You'd think that addressing that issue would be one of the lesser talents available to a man who it appears scouts and coaches all of our players single handed.

Anyway onwards and upwards to Saturday.
It's a good point, tbf.

All I would say in response is that, unlike other areas of the pitch, we have largely Moyes' old defensive unit (and defence I would say is where we need leadership from), barring Distin, still here. The one player he has bought that's a starter at the back is Funes Mori. Now he seems to have a good temperament - a competitive one. I wonder what would happen if he got the armband btw? I bet he'd lead that back four with greater distinction than the church mouse Jagielka.

Whoa whoa whoa...Jagielka said the same thing: that they felt they needed the pen to go in in order to have breathing space.
