Been meaning to ask you and
@RAFUH who I think is in NC
How are the campaigns looking in swing states? I presume you're being bombarded with ads and such.
Is any of it making a difference? is it head wrecking at this point?
So bizarre to have absolutely none here in MA.
Yeah, there's a ton of ads. But IMO no more than in any election cycle. PA is an interesting state, with two big cities, a lot of mid-size cities, and lots of rural areas. So in many respects, it's a mini cross section of the county itself - every seat is almost always in play. Interestingly, there's less Senate-related ads than I saw in 2022, when we voted in a Senator that literally could not string sentences together from a stroke because first and foremost he was a real person and not a Trumper. I think that's because Casey is kind of an institution here, with name recognition, and he's not viewed as a "liberal." Whatever that means. It also doesn't help that McCormick, who lost to Dr. Oz (LOL) in the republican primary in 2022, is a Wall Street type that literally sent jobs to China - not gonna work around some of the blue collar edges here.
Anecdotally, the Trumpers are becoming louder - over the past month I've seen more and more signs popping up, and not just signs, but shrines to their god-like figure. The Harris/Walz people just have a sign in their yard. For the Trumpers, this is their last stand.
I really can't see PA going for Trump after what's happened over the last 8 years and most recently in 2022. It's hard to fathom us swinging to Trump, despite the fact that the red more rural areas are certainly going to come out in droves for Trump.
Anything is possible though. It's never over until it's over. But I really do think (and hope) that there are just so many normal people, particularly women, that are not outspoken and are going to rid ourselves of Trump once and for all in a few weeks.
