Here is the Democratic party's Kamala Harris problem. Dems will not want to go into an election with this as a typical headline in the months leading up to election day. They are already losing young black males. Also losing black women(probably women of all colors) would be a complete disaster.

It isn’t good enough, though.

The man is clearly past it; pretending otherwise legitimises ignoring all Trump’s negatives.
Why is Biden "past it", yet Trump isn't? Trump, in many respects, appears to be even more senile and divorced from reality than Biden does.

Biden gets hammered from inside his own party and in the media for "being too old" and "not having it together".

Yet Trump gets a free pass on all of it, b/c he's understood to be the crazy uncle that everyone just knows to ignore. And because of that, he doesn't get hammered in the media like Biden does. And Trump's party is cool with it.

It's simply bizarre

Feeling compelled to say this given my current state of fury.

We are here today because Bernie Bros could not stomach voting for Hillary Clinton. It stinks. And we again find ourselves on the precipice of another such disaster because Democrats tend not to vote for party principles/platform, they vote their emotions of the moment. It's infuriating.

I don't know if it will change the pattern, but I hope this ruling fires some people up. If left unchecked, the Trumpist/Federalist Society elements in our politics are going to continue to fundamentally re-cast American society into the wet dream of the fraudulent fundamentalist Christians and their billionaire allies.
I'll see your Bernie Bros and I'll raise you this

Trump promising to remove funding to any school with a vaccine mandate, which would be every public school in the country.

Terrifying to see such laziness with such evil intentions
bloody hell.
Imagine having an immunocompromised kid.
Polio was a thing when Trump was a kid in school. Does he think it just magiced away?
This is all getting a bit much.

It's like being battered by Wolves and relying on Benitez to make the right changes to fix things.
(but much worse, obviously!)

I honestly doubt if he understands funding of the school systems let alone vaccines. It's just something to say to his sycophants which in itself terrifies me.

Chatter getting louder about Biden being forced out.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A House Democratic lawmaker has become the first in the party to publicly call for President Joe Biden to step down as the party’s nominee for president, citing Biden’s debate performance against Donald Trump failing to “effectively defend his many accomplishments.”

Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas said in a statement Tuesday that Biden should “make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw.”

“My decision to make these strong reservations public is not done lightly nor does it in any way diminish my respect for all that President Biden has achieved,” Doggett said. “Recognizing that, unlike Trump, President Biden’s first commitment has always been to our country, not himself, I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. I respectfully call on him to do so.”

Doggett, who represents an Austin-based district and is serving his 15th term in Congress, is the first sitting lawmaker in his party to publicly state what many have been privately whispering behind closed doors since last week’s debate. Biden’s weak performance caused immediate panic among even his most ardent supporters, leading many to question whether the 81-year-old career politician is the strongest Democratic candidate to take on Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, in November.

“I represent the heart of a congressional district once represented by Lyndon Johnson,” Doggett, who is the No. 2 Democrat on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, continued. “Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same.”

What are our American cousins hearing...?

What are our American cousins hearing...?
When the soon-to-be 78-year-old Lloyd Doggett, who has been in Congress since 1995 (and in the TX Senate/State Supreme Court from 1973 before that) and represents a completely solid Dem distinct in Austin, offers to cede his seat to a younger, more vibrant Progressive I'll be a bit more willing to hear him out on this. By safe, I mean he got just shy of 77% of the vote in his gerrymandered district.

Lots of people I know in Austin are having similar reactions as local folks to former San Antonio mayor and HUD Secretary Julian Castro doing the same thing (calling on Biden to step down): it's been a good while since they've been relevant in the party and they want to get back to their favorite place - in front of a TV camera.

If Joe Biden decides to step away, fine. The public pressure to force him to do so makes the party look weak, though, and plays into the hands of the GOP. Doggett invoking LBJ in his statement is interesting. Johnson bailed under similar pressure. His VP became the nominee. In part, Nixon won the election by a narrow margin due to a Dem party that remained fractured despite Johnson not being on the ballot.

Today is the first day where I thought Biden may genuinely go. I'll walk back my earlier statement where I said he's still the best Dem option(mainly due to all other options being dire). Anyway, it's either him or Kamala. No-one else can get the gig without tearing the party apart.
