I like Bernie, but he should have done more to unite the party after losing the primary in 2016. He learned his lesson four years later and implored his supporters to vote for Biden, but the damage was already done.

Surely anyone who doesnt want Biden, may not like him at all, or may be thinking of abstaining in November due to his stance on Israel should be putting this above everything at the moment.

This is more than a little misleading.

Four seats are potentially in play, barring unusual mischance: Thomas (76), Alito (74), Sotomayor (70), Roberts (69). Among recent justices, Scalia died on the bench at 80, RBG died on it at 87, Kennedy retired at 82, Breyer retired at 84, Souter retired young and is still kicking at 85, O'Connor retired in her 70s and died at 93, Rehnquist died on the bench at 81 and John Paul Stevens retired at 90.

Is it a reason to vote Democrat? Sure. Has a party controlled the presidency for more than three consecutive terms since FDR? No. Odds are Alito and Roberts will step down and be replaced by Republicans. Ditto Sotomayor and a Democratic replacement. Thomas is the only one it's realistic to expect to run the clock out on.

If the Democrats can learn to put aside their differences for a couple decades in presidential elections, they can shift the Court. Nothing less than that will do, and a narrative of false optimism about what is required is unhelpful.

For all the talk of replacing Biden he's probably still the Dem candidate most likely to beat Trump. The exception possibly being Whitmer. It's still an ugly, ugly process sidelining Harris, unless Harris can be persuaded to step aside. This is very unlikely.
