The deep state aren’t very good at their job.

Yeah, getting a bit fed up with the leftist, deep state controlling everything. Seems like they’re doing everything humanly possible to relinquish power and bolster the opposition.

Or, maybe this is part of the long term deep state plan hey. Ever think of that? The plan is to let right wing governments into power all around the world, and right wing media dictate the culture war talking points, because the deep state strategy is to lull everyone into a false sense of….

Hang on, this is nonsense, isn’t it.

For all the talk of replacing Biden he's probably still the Dem candidate most likely to beat Trump. The exception possibly being Whitmer. It's still an ugly, ugly process sidelining Harris, unless Harris can be persuaded to step aside. This is very unlikely.
Biden has zero chance of beating trump. Literally zero barring trump dying.

Plenty of normal, centrist dems had a chance at beating trump but the party decided to kill any competitive primary’s despite how obviously weak Biden was polling even with the base.

Those who wanted to keep a weak, easily manipulated leader at the top deserve the wrecking ball of the trump presidency to come.

I wouldn't disagree with much of this but the time for Dems to realistically change candidates has long gone. Dems cannot change their candidate without a resulting clusterf**k. The cleanest change Dems can make is to go with Kamala Harris. Virtually no-one in the party wants her as candidate. However, Harris NOT being the candidate if Biden withdraws loses Dems a significant number of women voters(even losing 1% of women voters is a disaster). The best they can do imo is somehow persuade both Biden and Harris to step aside and make Whitmer the candidate. This is very, very unlikely to happen so it's barely worth mentioning.

Dems have landed themselves with a Gordian knot. They have zero good options. Their best chance is then to probably stick with Biden and hope enough anti-Trump votes exist for Biden to win.

Harris isn’t winning Biden a single vote. Not even one.

She is a dislikable character picked because she was the least risky black woman he could find (cali was never flipping red). She hasn’t ever been an astute political pick in the same way Whitmer would have been. She hasn’t brought black voters to the table (Biden did worse with them that Hilary).

The big problem the dems have is that if he can’t fulfil the duties of being a candidate then he probably can’t fulfil the role of President even now. That’s the stupidity of the party establishment. They have given trump a free stroll towards the Oval Office. He may as well just play golf between now and November. He should have been quietly sidelined for newsom who would have thrashed trump. Instead it is just a battled as to who is the least decrepit.

The only hope is that trump is as disinterested in actually governing as he was in his first term and can’t actually gut the system (though to be honest the Supreme Court and the shrewder republicans in congress will do this through the courts).

True, Kamala is not winning Biden a single vote. Kamala will lose Dem votes though if she's replaced by anyone other than a woman(Whitmer). Even then Dems may lose some % of black or Asian women. As I said previously, persuading Kamala Harris to step aside is virtually an impossible task.

I'm not convinced by Newsom. He's slick but I'm not sure how well he'd be received in the battleground mid-West states. Whitmer's home base is the mid-West. She'd have an excellent chance of carrying most of the battleground mid-West states.

This election is still probably going to be decided by 100,000+ votes in half a dozen swing states. Dems still have not an insignificant chance of winning. They will not even have this chance IF Harris is involved in an ugly attempt to push her aside.

I don’t think he does - expending a lot of effort to try and get people to pretend what is obvious isn’t what it looks like is never a winning strategy.
he does have a decent chance.
People arent voting for him, they're voting against Trump.
Theyre voting against the stacked supreme court
Theyre voting against the wave of idiot maga congresspeople.

He's 81, incoherent, messed up the Gaza war, hasn't managed to get the feds to ease up on rates
and still he has a very good chance
Because the majority of Americans dont want the other option.

My city is home to multiple military bases, is where every Air Force enlisted member and military doctor goes thru basic training and is where a huge number of military retirees come to make their home for the benefits bestowed upon them at retirement.

Not one of the dozen I spoke with yesterday was aware of the GOP plan to cut the Basic Allowance for Housing for military members (including reducing to one BAH for military members who are married to each other) and eliminate military disability insurance to be replaced with optional private coverage... among other insults.

They were, uh, upset.

This is the kind of messaging Dems are woeful at getting out and it needs to happen. Now.

Did he look all of his eighty-bajillion years old at the debate? Sure. But when they get in behind that curtain to vote, people tend to vote for stability. The economy is good, life is ok, it's when the "I'm alright, Jack" attitude triumphs for the better. Trump is a convicted felon, which will matter to moderates and independents, and he oversaw an absolute car crash administration when he was in office. Trump doesn't have anywhere near the momentum he had in 2016 and most people can now see he's a slobbering moron. It's a marathon, not a race. I'd be more worried for Biden if there was some sort of black swan event or severe economic crash leading into November, but right now I can't really see him losing tbh.

Difficult to do messaging like that when so much focus is on the “too old” question, though.

Yeah, I cant get my head around how they are not hammering on the separation of church and state.
Everyone seems to love the constitution when it suits
But so much of what the right are doing/proposing is unconstitutional.

Also, if the dems get in, stack the court and make DC and PR states.
Play the republicans at their own game.

Much like roe vs wade, this will help to get the democrat vote out...and will prob make it easier for people to hold their nose and vote biden

The focus is likely to remain there if Dems continue to give it oxygen.

If the GOP can ignore felony convictions, rape (now possible pedophilia), fraud, insurrection, and on and on... I think we can probably get past age.

It isn’t good enough, though.

The man is clearly past it; pretending otherwise legitimises ignoring all Trump’s negatives.
