It's a ruling that will get twisted to expand the scope of presidential power to a far greater degree than Roberts probably intends. I get that Roberts still thinks Iran-Contra should have been within the scope of Reagan's power. A ruling this broad isn't the way to solve that.

If democracy is to mean anything, a later Supreme Court will have to claw some of this back, and the future president in question will have cause to call that ruling unfair targeting.

The appeals court ruling they overturned was an excellent, well-reasoned opinion that should have stood.

Feeling compelled to say this given my current state of fury.

We are here today because Bernie Bros could not stomach voting for Hillary Clinton. It stinks. And we again find ourselves on the precipice of another such disaster because Democrats tend not to vote for party principles/platform, they vote their emotions of the moment. It's infuriating.

I don't know if it will change the pattern, but I hope this ruling fires some people up. If left unchecked, the Trumpist/Federalist Society elements in our politics are going to continue to fundamentally re-cast American society into the wet dream of the fraudulent fundamentalist Christians and their billionaire allies.

They should, but again that is still a one-way street - every US voter is being told they must do this, how absolutely important (vital, even) it is to the health of the nation that they get out and vote to stop Trump. All of their concerns aren't as important as stopping that man from doing what he wants to, which almost everyone should absolutely focus on.

Meanwhile it is fine for Biden to carry on, just as it was fine for RBG to carry on.
