The amount of crap players the RS have signed for big money is laughable in the last ten years. Take the witch doctor n your man from the favelas' out of their team n they're really average in my opinion. We just played the occasion as @blue61 said instead of treating it as we would hull etc
Always find it slightly amusing when people say 'if you took this or that player out of the side they'd be rubbish', the point being they have 'this or that player' in the first place.
Like it or not they are one of the pack of teams above us, who at some point of the season, entertained a realistic chance at the title and one delineating factor is indisputably financial.

Don't agree pal. Their defence is an absolute joke for starters. League title contenders with that defense seriously? Jordan Henderson seriously? Lucas seriously? I could go on but...

The above figures are the respective wage bills at Liverpool and Everton. Their wage bill is almost exactly twice as big as ours. Ours is a couple of million bigger than West Ham and Stoke.

Do we expect Stoke to win at a club paying almost £166 million annually? No. Why expect it of Everton?

We fondly cling to the idea that the two Merseyside clubs are equals in stature and importance. They're not. Liverpool are a far bigger and better resourced outfit than we are and tough though it is for us to admit it they will remain so. We need to stop obsessing about them and start to accept reality.
One of the worst shouts I've ever seen.

But that's the point of the argument, we go into every one of these games now hoping this will be the 'occasion of our occasional win, oh well perhaps it'll be next year ,or the year after. We have to hope that their on a bad run or our team of mid table sloggers will raise their game or,usually, both. Unless we have actual aspirations to create a genuine title chasing side, we'll be having these discussions ad infinatum. It's time for our new regime to urinate or get off the pot.

No mate, the OP was stating that we'll never win because we spend less than them.

By that logic we shouldn't have beaten Man City 4-0 but we did.

But we beat Man City didn't we?

You're missing the point somewhat lads. If you look at the OP's posting record he's just one of those Blues who only pops up when we've lost, or, if we've played well and won, then he finds a negative slant on it. See below for his views in the City win ...

He's basically @davek light, but davek's pedigree is unquestionable.
Still, it takes all sorts.

Great game and I am delighted but let me be devils advocate.....would we have won if there was anything at stake? Its OK doing it when becalmed in mid division miles away from relegation or the top 4 but would be do it with a top 4 place on the line? frankly I'll start to celebrate big wins when they matter.

As it is a great win against a team with an unproven novice manager who is out of his depth will do just fine.

.....but their in the top 6 and we're not, by a long shot.

You get what you pay for. And the fact remains that their wage budget is twice as big as ours.

Our wage budget is to theirs what Millwall's wage budget is to ours.

I was just about to say I'm not gonna go all Davek on this!!! Your spot on btw.

We tonked City 4-0 this season. I wonder what their wages are?

It's a lame excuse.

A Man City thats half arsed playing Everton. You can't compare the neighbours who are up for a derby game against a team like Man City who treat us like any other game, and are complacent in doing so.

If Man City put in the same effort as we do they tonk us...Aguero, Silva, Sterling, De Bruyne. That quartet would massacre our back line if they were at it.

The movement and quality of Mane, Coutinho, Firmino we couldn't handle. The static forward we have that is heavily reliant on service is much easier to manage. We badly missed Schneiderlin as he's the only quality midfielder we have.
