Baines going on all week how we need to stop being afraid of them. Biggest coward out there yesterday in my opinion. Plus he was brutal going forward. Great player back in the day but he's finished after yesterday in my opinion

The above figures are the respective wage bills at Liverpool and Everton. Their wage bill is almost exactly twice as big as ours. Ours is a couple of million bigger than West Ham and Stoke.

Do we expect Stoke to win at a club paying almost £166 million annually? No. Why expect it of Everton?

We fondly cling to the idea that the two Merseyside clubs are equals in stature and importance. They're not. Liverpool are a far bigger and better resourced outfit than we are and tough though it is for us to admit it they will remain so. We need to stop obsessing about them and start to accept reality.

Bollocks.

Yes, they have more money so we shouldn't expect to beat them or finish above them on a regular basis, but to say we shouldn't expect to be able to beat them occassionally is plain old stupid. Other teams with less money than us beat them every season. The fact that we don't tells us we have a mental block with them.

Jesus, I mean I know our wage structure needs to come up to date with players new contracts but that's a lot of money spent on what's probably the weakest squad of the top 6

Liverpool’s wage bill rocketed by 25% as it passed the £200million mark for the first time.

The Reds shelled out £208,258,000 on salaries for players and staff for the 12 months up to May 31 2016 - more than Premier League rivals Manchester City (£198m) and Arsenal (£195m).

That represents a hefty increase on the previous year when Liverpool’s wage bill was £166,085,000. The details are included in the club’s accounts which have now been filed at Companies House.

He's the worst footballer I've ever seen. Id say Sunderland were laughing their heads off when they got twenty million for him

He isn't that bad mate, they rate him and let's not kid ourselves they've had some decent centre mids over the past 15 years. People always blast United fans for comparing any midfielders they get to Scholes, Keane, Giggs etc or any youngsters we get to Rooney. They acknowledge he isn't in Gerard's class but they do say what he does he's very good at, whatever that is

He's literally a fraud mate. I could contribute more than him with a couple of weeks training n I'm long retired! How he's an actual international just annoys me when you consider the players that could n should be picked ahead of him. I wouldn't have him in the Irish team ahead of Jmac and Glenn Whelan put it that way

But that's the point of the argument, we go into every one of these games now hoping this will be the 'occasion of our occasional win, oh well perhaps it'll be next year ,or the year after. We have to hope that their on a bad run or our team of mid table sloggers will raise their game or,usually, both. Unless we have actual aspirations to create a genuine title chasing side, we'll be having these discussions ad infinatum. It's time for our new regime to urinate or get off the pot.

So why Swansea, Hull, Southampton, Bournemouth Wolves and Burnley??
