The unsigned Don Revie contract 1973

Howard Kendall had more success here. Lots of ifs and buts. If things panned out differently, we may have not signed him as player/manager. But as others have said..old big ears would have been great at Everton

Who was the king of Goodison Park?

Howard Kendall, innit? Part of the "Holy Trinity" midfield with Harvey & Ball, then went on to be our most successful manager, winning the club's only European trophy. Can't be any other contender, surely.

Very true. I was happy seeing us go with two up top v Brentford. Never can get used to playing a lone striker. Howard Kendall shockingly did it once for the FA cup tie at Anfield (0 - 0), that would lead to the 4 - 4 and 1 - 0 replays. Being my age, 51, and coaching my daughter's U15 I still...

And who can ever forget the sheer joy they brought to us Evertonians on the final day and in the final minute at Anfield ;)

Yes, a superb Arsenal team. George Graham was their Howard Kendall. His brown paper bag shenanigans dimmed his reputation, but his Arsenal side was spectacular defensively, AC Milan-level at the back. And they had very good players all over the pitch including a mature Kevin Richardson, another...

    Which managers have progressed us?

Pretty accurate to me. I'd query Walter - truly it was abysmal by the last 18 months, but then he did succeed a way-past-it Kendall. Everyone else had some form of positive impact. Moyes for certain - twice. Allardyce for sure - there was a huge immediate uplift and we were safe within a month...

    2025/26 David Moyes

He definitely was the tallest pygmy in the tribe.

I wouldn’t discount Carlo or Royle so easily.

...35 years. If you want to start criticising people using the term ‘hypocritical’ you need to ask why you’re doing that. Nobody (in terms of ownership/management) has done as much for this club as Moyes has since Howard Kendall part one. He even made Kenwright look good (sort of, if you squinted)

Gary Steven’s had awful blond rat effort iirc too in his early years.

    Which managers have progressed us?

The implosion under Royle was something. Splurged big money for the time on an ineffective Nick Barmby, and then we were reduced to signing Terry Phelan, Claus Thomsen and Marc Hottiger, before Hamperman baulked at signing a then-unknown Tor Andre Flo.

    Which managers have progressed us?

Since Howard Kendall’s 2nd spell in charge, which managers or manager do you think have actually improved us from what they took over? When I say improved I mean by the end of their spell comps to when they joined us. I’d say there are 6 managers in the past 33ish years, so 6 of 15 permanent...

Heath King Richardson Had bum fluff taches iirc. Howard Kendall had a decent one as did snodin. But the winner is joey Harper.. gringo effort.

He’s been the “best” Everton manager for about 30 years mate, I can’t understand the hatred

    2025/26 David Moyes

Nah. It shouldn’t be that hard to imagine. He’s had years with us. Most managers get a couple of years with a club. Perfectly normal that some fans don’t like him. Not like he is Howard Kendall or something
