Arsenal's fans don't say:

It's been X years since we won the Premier League or Champions League

They say:

It's been X years since we've won a trophy.

Trophies are what go down in your history, not a piece of paper saying 'Played some good European sides but didn't make it past the Group Stage 2013'.

That's because compared to winning either of the former, a domestic honour is easy to win. If they aren't winning CL and PL trophies, the expect to at least win domestic ones.

They've won stuff in the last decade which is an improvement on us, tbf. Arsenal are on a terrible run for some reason. More than likely they'll snap out of it and start winning stuff again soon enough, like.

Arse have been buggered since getting arshavin

But domestic ones don't matter, according to people in this thread.

(Suppose they should tell that to all the Arsenal fans who have supported them in FA Cup and League Cup matches over the years)

It's utter crap. Winning a trophy is winning a trophy, it always feels boss, and it's always an achievement. By some of the logic used in this thread players should only care about winning the World Cup. After all, it's the hardest to win and thus makes all the others pale into insignificance. Right ?

I bet players like Ronaldo and Messi don't care about winning the Champions League, it's the World Cup that matters. The CL trophy is just a bit of metal.

By saying that domestic cups don't matter, people are effectively taking a s**t on a large amount of Everton's history. 'It doesn't matter'. FFS.

If it's easier to win, why haven't they?

Boom. Because erm, they don't put out a full strength side ? Oh wait.

It's that simple, the whole point of being an Everton supporter.

My belief is that being in the CL gives you a greater chance of doing both. Winning domestic trophies doesn't help you climb the table. I know you can point to Arsenal and Spurs but they can and will win trophies and will regularly be in and around finals because of the quality and size of their squads and at least they have the ability, with some shrewd transfers to challenge for the league. Sure, trophies are important, but I still think that you should always aim for the top long term. By that I mean the top of the league and for the Champions League, even if you're not necessarily going to win them because it's important to compete at the top rather than settle for second best. I'm not saying you've all got losers' mentalities or anything remotely like that but it's just the basic principle of what I'm saying.

Plus, European nights at Goodison and aways would sure be nice.

I'll never forget 1995, 10 years old, fully decked out in Everton gear, giving it to all my Man Utd glory hunting mates, Amokachi's smile, Big Dunc's blue nose, Joe Royle ffs. Would love to see Moyes lift a trophy up.

Your stance makes more sense than some of the ones shown in this thread, i know you don't think winning other stuff is pointless.

I don't personally believe that really wanting to win the FA Cup and thinking it's important is accepting second best. That would imply we were deliberately not winning it, when the reality is that the FA Cup is a f***ing hard thing to win, and the League Cup isn't easy either.

Both would be a great achievement.

The last trophy Spurs won was in 1991. Arsenal have gone 8 years or something (God I hope that's right). What's this all about them being able to win trophies mate?
