The Anderlecht centre half got a nasty ankle injury in the first hal , they tried everything they could to get him back on the field, including playing for ten minutes with only ten men...they failed.
He looked very strong and competent and I think they may have missed him badly

Still, it's Celtic. It's a bit like getting turned over by Atalanta or someone.

I think to give him a lower rating than someone like Trebel was a little unfair.

Well yes maybe you could have given him the same rating as Onyekuru. The thing is nobody expects big things from Trebel, they do from Onyekuru. He played a bad match and he knows it himself. If he wants to play in the PL he should start showing something special, irrespective of how the rest of his team is performing. Players like Mitrovic (The Newcastle one - less so in the PL), Lukaku (even at 16), KDB, even Kouyaté etc could single-handedly control/decide a match in the JPL; even when their team were struggling. Mind you he still has got plenty of time though, only September yet. Or maybe he's just struggling with his form, like Dendoncker. Early days.

Anyway doesn't matter any more; new slate. In all likelihood they will appoint the new manager tomorrow. Vanhaezebroeck defeated Tottenham, Lyon, Valencia and Zenit with AA Gent. Made it into the second round of the CL. You'd expect he'd be a good choice; he's got quite a challenge on his hands though since he's got a crocked defence (all the good ones are injured). He's an attacking coach.

That's because he is the only half fit (already nursed an injury) CB (and he is a very important player) they had. They had to replace him with Kara (also an important player; but wasn't planned to play), an extremely risky substitution since he is still nursing a knee injury and hadn't played since the last international games. Deschacht is a 36 year old disaster. On top of that they didn't even have their first choice left-back (injured) and right-back (injured). Only one good defender, Spahic, who's now probably out for a month.

It was horrible; what a humiliation. It's one thing to lose from PSG or Bayern; but this is just ridiculous. They deserved their victory though.

He brought some joy to Lukaku (huge RSCA fan). Anderlecht-Standard is somewhat comparable to Manchester United-Liverpool. Quite a tense match since +- 2009. Started with the test-matches. Followed up with loads of controversies, aggressive banners (with decapitations etc), Witsel snapping Wasilewski's leg ... . Today it was a small match between the number 8 and number 11. It's still important for the fans though. This explains why Onyekuru takes the yellow card for taking off his shirt.

Scored the winning goal in 89th minute:

Cheers for that , a bright spot in the day. He's certainly got the knack of being in the right place at the right time, and on this occaision he worked for it as he was outside the last defender when the ball was out on the opposite wing, came back and around to get between the two defenders and score. It's early to judge him yet but he's scoring goals in what appears to be a poor RSCA team and appears to have a footballing brain that gets him in the right positions.

Championship
Bolton Wanderers - Antonee Robinson started on the bench and came on in the 85th minute of the 0-1 away loss to Aston Villa

OS Match Report

Barnsley - Joe Williams played full match in 3-1 away win over Millwall

OS Match Report

Twitter stuff
25 - Corner Millwall, Williams heads it out after O'Brien's dangerous run and cross from the left.
33 - Millwall force another corner, this time from the right flank. Cleared by Williams, but another corner to come from the left now.

Fan comments
"Williams was fantastic today. T'old Trevor loved him on the commentary. Appears everywhere, elegant on the ball, can tackle, is strong, is vocal. Great player."
"Williams for me. On any other day it would have been Brad Potts, who was outstanding, but he got pipped by Williams I thought."
"best game he's had"

Nottingham Forest - Kieran Dowell started, scored the winning goal and was substituted in the 80th minute of the 2-1 home victory over Sheffield United

OS Match Report
"Forest then went in front through another fine strike, this time by Dowell. Tendayi Darikwa's cross to the back post was calmly volleyed across goal by Daryl Murphy to the midfielder who finished in style after 27 minutes."

Twitter stuff
27' #NFFC 2-1 SUFC: Darikwa's cross is volleyed back across goal by Murphy for Dowell to smash into the bottom corner
73' #NFFC 2-1 SUFC: Darikwa does well to keep the ball alive on the touchline but Dowell then fires over the bar from the edge of the box

Fan comments
Interesting discussion here (start from the comments yesterday) on fan forum re Dowell. Sample:
"He is a classy player, but Maxi makes a fair point. Dowell needs to contribute more consistently throughout games, or he is essentially a luxury. A nice luxury, sure. But there were times in the first half yesterday when we were overrun in midfield and Cummings was spotting danger and working back while Dowell was strolling about ahead of play."

Sunderland - Tyias Browning played full match in 2-2 away draw at Preston North End

OS Match Report

No particular mentions on Twitter or in fan forum

Leeds United - Matthew Pennington played full match in 0-3 away defeat to Sheffield Wednesday

OS Match Report

Fan comments
"Pennington looked pants"
"Pennington - 4 - TBH I didn't notice him much which as we were under the hammer a lot of the time is worrying"
"Pennington-4 . .forgot he was playing. Hooper and Fletcher just bullied him."

League Two
Crewe Alexandra - Conor Grant started on the bench and came on in the 78th minute of a 0-1 away defeat to Coventry City

OS Match Report

Callum Connolly was an unused sub for Ipswich Town
Liam Walsh was not in matchday squad for Birmingham City
Brendan Galloway was not in matchday squad for Sunderland

,It's good to see Dowell and Williams getting game time and playing in the manner we know they can! I watched the brief highlights of the Barnsley match, Williams not really shown except being vocal on occaisions. Dowell seems to be playing exactly as you'd expect if he was with us, frustrating and brilliant in equal measures . He won't lose his skill playing in the Championship but over the season he's going to either learn that skill alone is not enough or he won't. Hoping he'll come back a more rounded player.

Or he'll evolve into an English Ozil but not as good.
