Onyekuru 3: when he had the ball, you thought something was going to happen. It never did. Must bring more.



BOECKX 5
Frustrerende avond. Kon zich niet onderscheiden - er was amper werk -, maar werd wel drie keer geklopt. Kon wel beter doen bij Roberts’ goal.

CHIPCIU 4
Geeft al het hele seizoen een lusteloze indruk, dus ook tegen Celtic. Is geen rechtsachter en kon/wilde dat niet wegsteken.

SPAJIC 4
Kreeg minutenlang verzorging na een tik, beet door, maar gaf geen rugdekking bij de 0-1. Liet zich dan tóch vervangen. Had dat beter meteen gedaan.

DENDONCKER 4
Had véél nuttiger kunnen zijn één rij hoger. Dat neemt niet weg dat hij centraal achterin niet goed was. Zonde.

DESCHACHT 3
Ongelukkig. Stond te slapen bij het eerste tegendoelpunt en lag met een slechte hakbal aan de basis van 0-2. Nooit op het niveau van de voorbije weken.

APPIAH 5
In moeilijke omstandigheden - tegen zijn voet op links - degelijk. Alleen: zijn voorzetten blijven dramatisch, zo bleek opnieuw.

TREBEL 4
Zoals we hem kennen. Deed alles aan 200 procent, maar kan dat tempo niet combineren met foutloos voetbal. Wel nuttig in de recuperatie.

GERKENS 6
Startte complexloos, met enkele goeie openingen, maar zakte nadien weg met de ploeg. Had wel nog één opflakkering: zijn knappe knal verdiende beter.

HANNI 5
Als er al eens gevaar was, lag hij, in niet eens zijn beste match, aan de basis. Zijn afstandsschoten misten - tot drie keer toe - efficiëntie.

TEODORCZYK 2
Lag meer op de grond dan dat hij rechtstond. Liep bovendien vaak buitenspel en verloor elk kopduel. Zeer, zeer, zeer slap.

ONYEKURU 3
Telkens als hij aan de bal was, kreeg je het gevoel dat er iets te gebeuren stond. Dat kwam er echter nooit uit. Moet meer brengen.

VERVANGINGEN:

Was, zonder wedstrijdritme, niet slechter dan de rest - veelzeggend. Kopte een zeldzame mogelijkheid over.

STANCIU 5
Speelde tenminste met goesting, maar het was ondankbaar om deze scheve situatie recht te trekken. Zal de samenvatting van de UEFA niet halen.

Denken dat híj het tij zou keren, was als denken dat de aarde plat is. Deed desondanks zijn best - meer kun je niet vragen.

Defensively they were terrible for all three goals. The second one the defender tried to do a back heel/drag back on the edge of his box and f'd it up, giving it straight to Celtic, then another one deflected the ball past his keeper

He was one of the few players that posed any threat at all. Anderlecht are just shockingly bad in general and they probably gave him a 3 because he didn't take shots on himself.

I think you're being biased there, it's a fair rating and it's in line with the other newspapers. It's quite consistent with what he's been producing over the last weeks. There's a reason why a lot of his appearances have been from the bench. He definitely has to improve, simple as that -especially if you keep in mind people's expectation pattern.

The only decent Anderlecht player on that field was maybe Gerkens; maybe the humiliation will do them good.

..and West Brom's last season. He did start the season but reports indicated his form was very poor. Can't expect to keep his place if they have a better option. Shame, he looked full of promise for us but perhaps Koeman simply didn't rate him.

Totally agree, maybe loaning him out after his disaster last year was a mistake. Shame again, the player we seen a couple of years back looked a decent youngster, wonder what has happened.

..I don't know but it's possible he's been found out. It's a tough old game although he'll be a wealthy young man and will ultimately find his level. It might be that Everton are content that somebody else is paying his salary for the last few seasons.

I think to give him a lower rating than someone like Trebel was a little unfair.

The Anderlecht centre half got a nasty ankle injury in the first hal , they tried everything they could to get him back on the field, including playing for ten minutes with only ten men...they failed.
He looked very strong and competent and I think they may have missed him badly
