Would you sell Jelavic?

There was another interview after last season where he was asked how he practices in order to have such a great first touch finish. His response was basically, I do not think about it, I just do it.

He must be thinking about it now.

Spot on. His most important goal of the season came when he had absolutely no time to think about it (Vs Spurs), and when he's had time he's thinking 'better not mess this up' rather than just mindlessly slotting.

Yeah, even I (as a ****e football player) do this. I'm not usually into the psychological side of things but this is definitely true.

Confidence definately effects a striker. Playing there myself, and slotting for fun!! Haha... When I hit bad form, you most definately think about what your doing more, try to make sure u score and it ruins your slotting.

Having said that I don't believe moyes has changed his game causing this. Jelavic is a slotter, he ain't a quality player tho. He's a 5M striker and that has showed this season. You can't just leave him in the box as a PL striker you need more from him up top on his own. He's never been a regular for Croatia.

Has his actual game play changed from last season tactical wise?? I don't think so...he was in exceptional form last season confidently slotting, this season it's not happened and your left with a average player. IMO he's always going to be suspect to this happening now...damaged goods if u will.

Sell sell sell. We're gonna sign a boss striker with proper money this summer I'm sure.

I think that the new manager will take a look and keep him. He clearly isn't the wonder striker some thought he was after his first 6 months and he is also clearly better than the league 2 standard player we saw for much of last season. I think he may well come back refreshed and be a good player who can score 12-14 goals next season. I'd keep for one more season anyway.

When Jelavic first arrived I thought my god we've actually got the player we've desperately needed for years. He was ace. People forget this. It just shows you how a player's game can deteriorate because of psychological reasons. It's not because other teams have sussed him out, he's done it pretty much all on his own- lots of awful misses and mistakes. But that greatness is still in there somewhere. Maybe a new manager will bring that out again. Maybe we shouldn't be in a rush to offload him?

I'd keep him and sell anichebe. Atleas you know he's got goals him. Can't really see what anichebe brings to the table.

Anichebe: 8 goals in 32 appearances.
Jelavic: 8 goals in 43 appearances.

He's also chipped in with more assists and not played like a [Poor language removed] all season, too.

There was some Yakubu in Jelavic. Started hot then faded, but we all know his deadly tap ins have won us games.

few things about Jela you maybe don't know. this guy had so much problems in the past mostly in the beginning of his carier, big problems with knees, several operations, but each time after bad injury he was better. last few years he finally played without injuries and played good except this year. what i mean is that he has strong will and after every problem he gets better so he should get another chance next year and prove what he can. i am fan of Hajduk (club from Split in Croatia) and following Everton for last ten years or so because we have very similar history as clubs ( Hajduk is peoples club and as you sad that evertonians are born not made same is with our fans - my father sign me in the club when I was 1 day old). look at his carier he played for us few years but he could't play 10 games in the row due to injuries, after that he played for few "small" clubs and came to Belgium and Austria, but without strong mind and hard training he will be finished after such injuries and never get to Everton

There's no point in selling Jelavic now, I hope he can bounce back next season. I think tactic where Mirallas would play off him and would do majority of "running channels" stuff would make him score more. IMO there's something like centre forward doing way too much other work outside of penalty box, which makes him less efficient in goalscoring opportunities. Unless you are Rooney, Tevez, Aguero or other forward with great engine.

Even if in some departments he is similar to Yakubu there's more which makes them different - for starters Yakubu all around game was much, much better than Jelavic's.

Nikica Jelavic tells Vecernji list there's 50-50 chance of him leaving Everton, club would let him go for £8M.
