Would you see Rodwell go for 30m?

It's tough to see young talent go. Players that are developed internally are more dear to the fans and the club. Especially when they make it to the 1st team and contribute. Unfortunately their is also a business aspect to all of this. My only concern is that players are being sold to settle debts and losses. If money goes to the manager I could deal with the loss of a young talented player, but if it's to curb debts then I am against it. On that note 30m would be a nice injection of cash for Moyes.

we`re skint. fellaini and rodwell are un-tried in the epl so we would be lucky to get 15m for both of them. then coz we are skint we might get 2 or 3 mil off chelsea coz we arent any good at bargaining then if blah blah blah. some of you bored with RAWK are you.... me too. wheres your season ticket for ? mines the anny rd - good game against the mancs eh lads an dead funny that nani thing wasnit

We wouldn't be able to make demands like that with Rodwell. For a start he's not good enough to bring a bid of that magnitude in, and anyone who thinks otherwise is rather foolish. Second of all, in our current financial state, if Rodwell wanted to go, we'd have to sell him. If a club offered £20m, the negotiation process would be over in half hour, because they wouldn't go any higher, and we haven't got the means to hang on to an unhappy £20m player purely out of spite.

If Rodwell goes, i'd be very surprised if we get any more than an already inflated £20m.

You may be right.

But the transfer market is a very different animal in just the short amount of time since we sold Rooney. Anyone who thinks otherwise is foolish.

He's got lot of media hype, but in reality is anyone going to offer anywhere near that sort of money for him? It's not as if most weeks he's banging free kicks into the top corner, curling through balls with the outside of his foot, clipping it over the defenders to set the stiker free, scoring with over head kicks, dribbling past numerous defenders or crossing like Beckham. What constitutes potential? Yes, he's a good player, especially for his age, but he's very physically developed for his age. Does standing out from your peers always mean you have more potential? Ryan Babel and Micha Richards also stood out tremendously when they were 17 and were supposed to command transfer fees of over £20 million. But were they not just far more physically developed than their peers and thus stood out? Rodwell is certainly a talent, but would he really be anywhere near the 1st team if he was 5" shorter and a stone lighter, thus had to rely on his technical ability? I just can't see why a top club would pay nearly 4 times for Rodwell what Van Der Vaart cost. David Silva cost £27 million. I see absolutely no sign that Rodwell will ever reach the level of those two. I think talk of £30 million is fueled by hype and in reallity no club will pay close to that for him. He can't be compared to the money being paid for striker in the last window either. Strikers always go for a premium and the Jan window was the last before the financial fair play rules comes in.

Rooney burst onto the scene in a completely different way to Rodwell. Rodwell hasnt't made himself a permanent fixture in the Everton team, so no club would pay £30m knowing he's not going to force himself into an even better team any time soon. If he's not forcing his way into our team, he's certainly not going to stroll into a United, City or Chelsea team no matter how much anyone might rate him. His progress has been steady without being spectacular. He's scored a couple of goals and impressed at times, and at other times been completely anonymous.

Teams will be watching him, but thats very different to coming in with a solid concrete offer.

we wont sell Rodwell or anyone else unless we get stupid money.think Torres and Carroll type fees

I wouldn't like to bet. If a £20m offer is faxed for either Rodwell or Fellaini i reckon they'd be off.

The point is, we're not in a position that we're forced to sell, and Rodwell has given no sign that he's anything other than happy to carry on playing for us. So unless a big club does come in offering big money, I'm fairly confident that he'll be going nowhere this summer.

There's no way Fellaini will go for anything short of £25m, and the same goes for Rodwell. We have too much deadwood we can sell so we aren't actually forced into the position to sell a big star. I would snap City's hand off for £25+mil for Rodwell though, he's obviously going to be class, but we do have Barkley waiting in the wings, and along with the deadwood going (Heitinga, Anichebe, Bily) we could buy 3 proven prem players i.e. N'Zogbia, Jarvis, Rodallega, Parker to name a few from relegation candidates.

I agree, as it's true, if you don't want to or have to sell a player, you can set whatever value you want. But I don't think a big club is going to come in for him. Big clubs tend not to buy players unless they've really stood out at a young age. The likes of Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson were already capped by their countries and had stood out at either U21, U20 etc international tournaments. And when the big clubs do pay big fees, they want players who aren't just ready to go into the first team, but take a starring role. Rodwell is 20 on Friday, has never been capped for his country and isn't even in the top 5 players at a club in the bottom half of the Prem. We read in the media how all the top clubs want Rodwell etc, but in reality there aren't going to be any decent offers for him unless he starts showing form that makes him Evertons best player and deserving of an England place. I can't see top managers being interested in hype. Having potential is one thing, but to get to a big club you have to demonstrate it, as Rooney did. Rooney was probably the best England team player at the end of the 2003/4 season, hence the big clubs were interested at a huge fee. Rodwell is miles from that.

Im just sick of Everton being a soft touch part of the Rooney deal if England win the world cup with Rooney we get an extra mill not a chance! Kenwright is a Fool

This.

Which is why i said if we could find a buyer, £20m would be a good price. Having potential and realising it are two very different things. Of the two Fellaini is more likely to go, but by the same token i don't see any top club paying more than £20m for his services at the moment either.

time will tell how wrong you are. your entitled to your opinion but why would we sell either Fellaini or Rodwell unless they put in a transfer request.also- do you think Aston Villa or Tottenham will buy them for £20m - no- thought not. so that leaves Chelsea or man city and if they come in for either of our 2 players we can and will ask for mega-bucks. did you know Carroll left Newcastle for £35m - so its no good speculating on smaller transfer fees for our players- where is the mileage in that
