Why should any "common" person be forced to go to war for something they haven't caused, know nothing about or want to go. The scum in charge that want it, well pick up a gun and go and fight it yourself. Hopefully never to return.

I reckon most of the country agrees with you for now. But with a mix of propaganda and pure lies talking up a direct Russian threat to us here , I guarantee the vast majority will be waving their flags and those of us that continue to be anti war will be traitors/cowards/putin lovers.

I don't see how russia are a threat militarily to the UK... Russia have gotten bogged down in Ukraine for 2 years they've lost enormous amounts of equipment and men. They really aren't a threat to anyone beyond neighbouring countries and even these countries are likley safe for a generation given Russian losses in Ukraine, the way things are being spun at the moment you'd be forgiven for thinking that it's only a matter of time before Russia manage to march across Europe and the citizens of the UK will have to fight on the streets.

I don't see how russia are a threat militarily to the UK... Russia have gotten bogged down in Ukraine for 2 years they've lost enormous amounts of equipment and men. They really aren't a threat to anyone beyond neighbouring countries and even these countries are likley safe for a generation given Russian losses in Ukraine, the way things are being spun at the moment you'd be forgiven for thinking that it's only a matter of time before Russia manage to march across Europe and the citizens of the UK will have to fight on the streets.

Yeah Russia can't simultaneously be losing to Ukraine and also about to take Calais and come over our way. And Nato have so many soldiers and so much technology. It makes no sense.

But all wars are sold to populations as defensive wars. Surely any war with Russia would have to end in Moscow right? So I can't imagine its purely defensive, more about Russian resources.

But we're on here debating this situation, young people who engage with the propganda won't go that far, they will be thinking "we've got to go to war soon", and "Russia is scary and evil and Putin is like Hitler". No questioning, just do what they're told by their betters. Mad thing is, those same people won't trust the government on almost everything else but when it comes to war they'll blindly jump in.

What if they came over in small boats? Because apparently they're unstoppable.

We won't go to war with Russia of course. They are as you point out incapable of taking out Ukraine without huge losses. They will not be taking on anyone else especially if they are NATO. And no one wants nuclear weapons involved so it's an impasse there.

I think the main worry for any non nuclear war is if we put boots on the ground in the middle east. I could see a proxy war there, Africa and South America igniting. Hopefully not.

Honestly, if you read some media outlets you’d think we were already facing a Russo-Chinese army massing at the NATO border.

I mean I’ve no doubt things are pretty grim in the world and these crises need managed carefully to avoid escalation but we’re not at the precipice just yet.

The Jordanians have been bombing "drug traffickers" just over the border for two weeks or so, this attack may be related to that as well as wider tensions.
