We have (it seems)
  • an extremely well respected DoF
  • a young manager who has managed the player before
  • two previous managers who kept a close eye on the player, one of which seemingly made an offer.
We also have a sizeable number of experts who post here stating he's too slow and crap.

Can anybody suggest which set of experts have the worthwhile experience and actual knowledge of what makes a good player?
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but our previously 'well respected' manager and DOF destroyed our squad while the 'experts' on here easily identified the problem areas that needed to be addressed.

In short, we need pace and he hasn't got any, so it's not surprising that fans aren't nursing semis at the prospect of signing him.

We need pace
Yes
But in his role its about making the best pass to the benefit of our pacy youngsters ...

I get that, but we didn't have a DoF before now. We had a scout with a different title.

Is he an upgrade in Gana and Morgan? Probably a yes to both. We can't jump from 'top half prem' to world class right away.

Apparently, he`s signing for West Ham, along with every available player in the World lol

If Silva thinks we need better than Gueye (on the ball at least...), and as he's spoke about his number 6 being such an important position, then I think we need to do a bit better than Carvalho, there's a reason he's been coasting for years at Sporting and no top team took him. He's materialised as West Ham standard.

All that said, a good age - an international... not all bad, he'd do well for some teams clearly - I just don't think he'd be a good fit for Everton.

:coffee:

Isn't he a free agent anyway now? Sure he'll cost us in signing on and wages but if he's a free and Silva and brands want him then why not.
If he is a free agent might end up being decided by the courts.Just because his agent thinks he can cancel his contract because some supporters attacked a few players doesn't make it legal. This could run for years.

Indeed, next players will be wanting their contracts cancelled because they get slagged off on internet forums and Twitter.
