dancing llama
Player Valuation: £750k
I would be very happy watching Big Willy spraying his balls all over the place.
cough

The thing about long balls is that, when you have just one player in the opposing half of the pitch like we've done for the last 12 months, then it becomes a hoof. I'm sure that will change under Silva.
The important thing here is that Carvalho has the vision and ability to turn defence into attack very quickly, something the likes if Gana and Schneids do not possess.
In fairness Gana hasn't shown he has it in his locker in the 2 years he has been here. Schneids may well have the ability but also didnt show it in the first few months with us when his game was more give and receive.Kind of agree but maybe Gueye and Schneiderlin were not able to do it because of exactly what you said about only having one one player (if that) in the opponents half for the last year or two. I think Schniderlin is capable of it for example. For all his flaws he is technically proficient.
From what I've seen Carvalho is a slug, but yes he's a much better footballer than Morgz.Uh, Morgan is a statue. He’s completely worthless attempting to make anyone in space and as a result, he’s completely worthless. Carvalho is a much better athlete, covers mor ground, and is faster as well. Not that it’s saying much of course.
I completely agree with this. Everton has tested and shredded the reputations of all recent managers, highlighting their inadequacies. We've had funds and offered a great chance for people to excel. The reputations of both Silva and Brands are on the line here. This is the job that confirms Silva as the talented young coach that has now come of age in a big club or confirms that he flattered to deceive. Brands can make a name for himself throughout Europe in this job or provide further proof that anything coming from the Dutch league must be looked at with caution.
Their transfer activity this summer is crucial for them which makes me doubtful about the signing of James Maddison for big money when we are being far more accountable about the money we spend this summer.
I think they will go with players they know well and will know what they can get from them. Silva will know how fast or slow Carvalho is and having managed in the Premiership he should know if Carvalho can survive there.
If we sign players that have a very good season and we as a club have a good season the Brands/Silva will be in a much stronger position to take some risks when signing players in future windows.
Makelele wasnt fast was he?From what I've seen Carvalho is a slug, but yes he's a much better footballer than Morgz.
So lemme get this straight. We generally despise Schneiderlein because of his lack of effort but are willing to excuse someone jogging back even MORE lackadaisical because he "lacks pace"?
Couldn't we try, I dunno, "improve" our athleticism?
Imo Carvalho is technically a much better footballer that wanyama.
Wanyama is s beast, but is nothing special, let’s be honest he can’t be up to much if Dier keeps him out of the spurs team.
Yeah that could work, I watched a video about Silva's tactics at Watford and Gylfi would operate like Cleverly in the 433 system, starting deep in the three then transitioning into a ten when we have the ball. But I do feel we actually need a new athletic box to box player aswell as Willy because that isn't a physical enough midfield and what we need is someone who can transition with the ball and take us up the park, someone who can get around the pitch. In theory it could be Davies/Gylfi but again you need options and different types put current midfield lacs physicality and pace hence teams like Arsenal just walk through us away from home. I suppose it depends how many we can shift if its one or two center mids we bring in this summer.
I agree, but that doesnt remove my worry. Had he been sick enough to explain that horror ‘run’ he made, Im pretty sure he wouldnt have played, they have more midfielders than just WillyC.We always go on about the dangers of buying players based on 10 minute youtube videos. But this is the first case I've seen of NOT buying a player based on a 20 second video.
The player could have been feeling ill or anything. Somebody said he was substituted at half time which could maybe point to this.
Everyone knows he isn't the quickest of players. But his positioning and reading of the game more than make up for that and he is an automatic choice for both club and country. His teams, whether that be club or country, have fantastic defensive records when he is in the team.
Not sure whether we're interested or if he'll fit into our new preferred system, but to suggest he's not good enough for us is a bit silly in my opinion.
The point is still you are judging him on 20 seconds out of around 300 hours he has played at senior level.I agree, but that doesnt remove my worry. Had he been sick enough to explain that horror ‘run’ he made, Im pretty sure he wouldnt have played, they have more midfielders than just WillyC.
I prefer female genitalia myself, but to each his own.Always liked Big Willy, myself.
Like I said, i know it's silly, but it being silly doesn't change me wanting us to buy him less, which makes me silly. Im fine with that. The point is still you are judging him on 20 seconds out of around 300 hours he has played at senior level.
That's just silly.I prefer female genitalia myself, but to each his own.

I thought he was fantastic during the euros.
