I honestly dont think there was money, well not the amounts we were bidding. I think January was a major reason to this slump. My honest opinion is that we bid the money for Fer knowing FULL well his history of knee injuries etc. Got the lad here and then tried to negotiate a del that we could afford. £2m or whatever and the rest in peanuts and cuddles over the next 25 years.

I think that in turn has peeved Moyes off, which in turn has filtered through to the squad that was in desperate need of freshening up and reinvigorating that new signings would have brought.

We are using basically 14 players week in week out. We saw the benefits of that in the beginning of the season but now when everyone is jaded we have nothing to offer in squad rotation.

It still comes back to the same thing time after time after time. We need new ownership- we need money and the tools to be able to generate more money (stadium, commercial expertise etc)

If Moyes was given even £10m a year that wasnt just from self generation through selling players I would be joining in with the majority, he doesnt he has to year after year pull rabbits out of the hat.

Well Moyes said he would assess his contract after the January Transfer window, after the window came and went, he then changed it to the end of the Season.

Its quite clear things didnt go as he planned.

Almost every game he's played we've been in control and never looked like losing. Then in a game we absolutely can't afford to lose, he's left out. No idea.

Sorry mate, but that argument doesn't wash when we've just been thrashed in a cup Quarter-Final at home to relegation strugglers.

Finance has absolutely nothing to do with it. Nor does January. If the manager can't invigorate his side to be up for a game that will see you at Wembley if you win then he has no business being a football manager.

Im not talking about yesterday. As I aid earlier if hes taken us far as he can then so be it but I think there are reasons for it.

Look, Im gutted about yesterday- as much as the semi last year because I think out first 11 on their day will give anyone a game.

But the f'ing off of Moyes calling him a crap manager is just embarassing in my opinion.

People saying about Boro, Pompey, Birmingham winning cups and them wanting some of that. A cup over being European contenders and being in the pit of the championship?! Nice one

Maybe play Kev behind Jelavic and play the ball on the deck instead of the over the top ball to the big man we seemed to try for 90 mins

Maybe try something else instead of the same formation and tactics that have been used for the last 300 years

Playing devils advocate and seeing as you all know so much about the inner workings of our club do you think that there might have been an issue with Gibson? The same player that in his own words is desperate for an operation to put right a niggling problem??

Oh yeh but mick if hes fit enough for the bench hes fit enough to play?! I would rather have a half fit Gibson on teh bench than not at all because hes better than anything else we've got

Moyes himself said it was solely down to footballing reasons.

Really? I havent seen that anywhere. Then in that case it was mistake- Gibson is the best midfielder we have.

i'd rather have a half fit gibson on the pitch instead of neville because it's still a better option, as is hitzlesperger

Seems a lot of the older ones remember the glory days and Mersey millionaires etc and the younger ones live their football lives through Football Manager.

Maybe Moyes has taken as far as he can but dont understand the negativity towards him after all he has done for this club. Someone taking over would inherit a decent squad and a good first 11. If they can work with the budget they'll get and find a few gems it could mean a better future.

My worry is that it could SO easily go back to the crap days of the 90's. We lose Fellaini, Baines, Mirallis and replace with players that dont make the grade we wont have the money to do anything else other than struggle.

i've played most of my life, to a decent standard at times, coached the game and I'd like to think I understand people and how to manage them in any profession.

Mick I'm not denying he's been good for us but after yesterday it's never been clearer that we're only nearly men. To get a squad thats better than that on the money he's had is amazing, but, the fact remains we have had squads better than that and this is one of them.

He's lacking the last 10% to be a really good manager. Problem is that's the most important. I listed the average league finishes as sometimes it can be worth looking solely at the bottom line.

The 90's was basically 7 or 8 bad managerial appointments on the bounce coming home to roost. There's no reason to think things could be that bad again IMO.

I agree, I don't see any problem with having slightly injured players on the bench. If he wasn't fit to start then fair enough. You would think though from what Moyes has said and how he played when he came on that he probably could have started the game. We'll have to see if he plays Saturday.

I've not exactly supported Everton as long as most people, but the only reason i started to follow Everton or Football as a whole was to experience that feeling you get when your surrounded by thousands of other like minded people when you win. Is that to much? Is it too much to believe in something enough and hope that it might happen, that one day you will win a trophy. All you have to do is look at Swansea and Bradford, too teams who are not exactly big teams, they got to a final so why cant we?
