Who's the best? Us or them.

Filipe Luis from Athletico Madrid, possibly Lahm and Alaba too.

Lahm is primarily a right back, hence why Alaba plays at left back. Also Alaba was considered a midfielder up until the last couple of seasons, so what makes you think that his defending is better than a much more experienced Baines who's considered by many as the best left back in this league? Is it because he plays for Bayern? Felipe Luis is a good player, but he's not as good as Baines. Although admittedly I haven't seen a great deal of him.

i don't see why we have to compare one of our best players to ones we've barely seen (everyone ever does this though), just enjoy leighton for what he is, a truly fantastic player. no need to go OTT just for the sake of it

Beat swansea 3-0. Smashed cheltenham and orient, too but that hardly counts.

But yeah over 35 games we've won more and lost less. Who cares that they score more goals?

exactly, they've spent £35m on carroll, £23 on suarez and £15 on sturridge as their striker force, ours is jelavic £5.5m, anichebe and vellios (1k or something stupid).

of course they're going to score more, they do draw blanks a lot of the times i.e. reading and west ham, but then when they get one goal against other small teams like norwich, swansea reserves and newcastle, they just bow down to them and seem to let them score whenever they want.

don't mean that in a bitter way, but whereas teams like norwich keep going against us (partly due to our inability to kill them off), they seem to just lay down to the name liverpool fc rather than the mid-table opposition they're up against.

anyway, it's embarassing that we have a better team and are above them for a 2nd year in a row based on the financial differences over the last few years.

have they only been above us for one gameweek all season?

There's not much between the teams as the past 4 seasons shows. Our finishing position has been much more satisfying to our fans than theirs. They have a much more elevated sense of entitlement/expectation which leads to the premise that they are underachieving. At the moment we have a slightly better, more settled first eleven but with less financial clout a couple of decent signings might make them more competitive. Neutral observers would generally predict the RS to finish above us (5th-6th compared to our 6th to 8th). We definitely have a better manager (right now). Suspect they will always drop their toast dry side down and come up smelling of roses (e.g Suarez might bail them out with a fat £40M cheque).

Of course if I answer this question with Blue Tinted Specs we're miles better than them :)

Well we're 5 points ahead in the league and got further in the FA Cup as well as finishing above them last year so us. They have just won 6-0 away, yeah, but they drew 0-0 with Reading two weeks ago and West Ham the week before that.

We lost to Reading.
