Stop negging this gentleman. You either play centre midfielders than can tackle and control their area, or watch the opposition flood through their space.

Well he's obviously right.

But we had no bite in midfield because the four choices who can play there and do that (Neville, Gibson, Fellaini and Heitinga) were all unavailable for the task.

It's not a flaw in our system that we need to pick on and sort out. It's a fluke that when playing the team in england with the best players at exploiting that space we had noone to stop them because of injuries and suspensions.

End of the day we lost, they did more with the ball, when they had it. That is all you can do.

We huff and puff, and throw in some spells of good football. But in the long run, the better players will shine through.

Mata was growing into the game, Oscar looked good.

Osman is a fine player but a better callibre of player will be doing better with opertunities he gets.

What other chances did they have apart from the goals? Lampard was in the six yard box for both and it didn't take a piece of magic to find him. Besides hitting the woodwork Osman also had a really good effort that would have gone in if it went anywhere but straight at the 'keeper. They would have been happy to leave Goodison with a point and won't believe their luck that they managed to win.

yeah you are right, im so much happier with the odd 3 points from them than all the trophies they have!!!

I would swap EVERY point we have won against them in 10 years, for that FA Cup final win !

Everyone would. But I'm just saying that as much as quality shows over a season we can beat them over 90 minutes. We've proven that.

The game wasn't lost the moment the fixtures were made the way you think it was.

Why, what else did they need to do ???

So you don't think mata was probably the best player on the pitch today then i guess.

I don't think that we were especially troubled by them. I think Distin was probably the best player but that was because he swept most things up before they really got started. Apart from the block on Torres I can't think of too much last-ditch defending that he had to do. It wasn't as if it was all hands on deck to keep them out.

You're not getting that it's fine margins. If Jelavic's freekick had managed to sneak inside the post and Howard had tipped Lampard's effort over they wouldn't have been too disappointed. They didn't do just enough to win and I don't think they could have raised their game if they really needed to. We dealt with them really well but we didn't have the luck.

I know. I just think we lost as they had more quality in the final 3rd.

Story of our season, loads of chances, that we cant take. Chelsea dont need many chances, as proved in their last few games.

No coincedence that we dont score enough. We dont have good enough finishers, and the best is off form. Who we cant replace, as we dont have money sat on the bench.

All comers back down to money.

Mata was the danger man from the get go. He makes them tick in the final third. Without him..... Average

We will have to disagree then mate, fine margins win games and inevitably win trophies, and its that extra quality that gets you their.

Now, if we had Mirallas, Fellani and Gibson, our better players, we may have converted more chances.

I seriously don't think that it's fair to say we didn't take our chances. Jelavic's header and free kick were so close to being perfect, not to mention the other shots on goal by Osman which were well saved. Came down to luck today. We had so many vital players today and we were up against the form team of the prem. Not upset at all, no one played bad, just unlucky.

On the whole I agree with you but I don't think that it was superior quality that told today. We were at least as good as them.
