Where was it lost?

when they had sustained pressure, we weren't composed enough. We hacked it clear and it came back. When they attacke on the break, we coped OK.
We had lots of spells of good possession. We attacked OK but didnt take our chances. Not alot in it which says alot for our side, spesh being four big players down. There were spells when Osman was boss, they struggled to cope. Similar with Baines and Pienaar. Vic showed some spunk. A defeat was a bit harsh on us.
We need to bum the barcodes to put this into true perspective

Goodison Park.

I was at that match last year, we completely confustrated them; they kept kicking it out to the right wing on the attack and didn't know what to do with it. Why couldn't we defend as narrow this time? It's not like their side is much different. Both of their goals came from us being split wide open at the back for no reason, most of their other chances too. Bad luck with the crossbar an that but they didn't have any business equalising, we should have ben 3 up at that point.

Sorry i ain't scouse call me whatever you like but i'll be back again in two weeks singing my head off against swansea.

It was lost in the sky with the Gods.

We did everything right today in terms of our effort, performance and attacking verve. Some of the football was outstanding. The injuries did not serve to make us a shaky, nervous and defensive team. We played with great heart and no little ability. We stifled their best players and the likes of Osman, Pienaar and Baines ran rings around them: Luiz easily could have been sent off. We also hit the bar and the post and missed a few golden chances either through poor finishing or outstanding saves.

At the other end Fat Frank scored his customary goal(s) from some poor marking and then a scrappy rebound. We could just have easily lost this game against Wigan or Norwich, the luck just wasn't there. Nothing to do with their quality... I hardly saw evidence of it.
Totally agree with this. My father in law (who has no allegiance to any club and is the most objective voice I know) said Chelsea were lucky. He did also say he thought we would regret it when he saw us failing to capitalise on our dominance

100% this.

Gutted that we lost, but it wasn't through either lack of effort or ability.

To say we were missing 5 first teamers, that was a great effort against imo the best side in the division at present.

Howard played okay, better than in recent games and some top saves, Jags and Distin were excellent, Baines not his best but still good / v.good. As much as I used to love the bloke Heitinga has lost it, he's become a liability. A CM of Hitz and Ossie is not good but according to Craig Burley outplayed Chelsea's mid 3 for best part, didn't see it that way myself. You look at the teamsheet and you know Heitinga, Hitz and Naismith are the weak links and sadly that proved to be the case but apart from playing Oviedo at RB (move jags back to CB and Heitinga out), Barkley to start on the right instead of Naismith .. still a slight problem in CM .. we lost it due to a threadbare squad.

We were just unlucky. Played well but the post and crossbar cost us. I must say it was a cracking game though, very exciting and considering the players we had out we played better than I expected. Gutted we dropped the points but so many positives
