When will we start taking Victor seriously?

Look what would happen if we sold Osman when he was rubbish. Give Vic six years and he will come good.
Tnf to the lad he has the raw materials to be a great player for us, if Jelavic is helping him develop a brain as well.....hes 24, hes got a fair bit of career left, i could see him in the first 11 if he continues to improve his fitness.

I had a pop at Vic on the Jelavic thread the other day. Said he always looks angry - moody would've been a better word - but I was happy with him at Newcastle. He chased, ran, and put himself in good spots. If he can do that consistantly, and I think he can, it'll be like a new signing. Last season we were saying we'd be happy to get one or two million for him when Wigan were sniffing around. He even had a smile on his face last night. Let's hope he keeps getting better. I think he can.

Loved Vic when he burst onto the scene back in the Europe league games years ago. Thought he was going to be top top player. He then declined and it got to a point I hated the guy, couldn't wait to get rid!

He's deffinately changed my opinion again tho... Can't knock what he's been doing when fit this season. He will always have injury trouble's I think. So IMO can never really be first choice.

Being part of a squad of say 3 strikers who are fighting it out, would happily keep him. But he's he a super sub IMO.

I believe the only problem is he mainly scores from coming off the bench, when moyes thinks hes done enough to start he plays awful and lack the passion and aggression shown from when he comes off the bench. But after last night i would much rather have him om the right than Naismith as he was generally awful, this is just when Mirallas isnt fit though.

I dont fully agree with this lack of passion thing. Players show it in different ways. he is certainly aggressive though, always seems to be in the middle of scraps.

I think the problem with him starting games is he will never start up front. He will always be shoehorned onto the wing or something.

I watched Lukaku play the other day against Fulham and he is everything i want Victor Anichebe to be and he can become like that! Pace, power, attitude and of course the finish. Think over the last month or so Victor is proving a lot of people wrong with regards to his attitude, it has clearly improved and long may it continue!

Take Vic seriously?? when he does it ( not withstanding injury ) over a consistant period of time. Liked his Newcastle attitude as long as he keeps it up he'll do.

I've always said there's a player in there, I just didn't know where it went on match days. Well Vs Newcastle it was in the 6yd box slotting Jelly's cross.

But

You're not ...' only as good as your last game '

You're ' Only as good as you're NEXT game '

I just saw the highlights, maybe just maybe Vic is becoming the goalscorer that we thought Vaughn was going to be. Thinking I should have been more patient with him considering I've always said that big strikers produce late in their 20s-early 30s.

I think the biggest problem now with him is that he tries too hard. I hate the lazy moniker that he has because I think he hears it and often runs himself into the ground. He's not Baines, Osman or even Jelavic/Fellani and he's got a bunch more weight to drag around for 90min than those guys. Late in the match you want Vic to have in have the stamina to jump higher and bull over defenders and it makes no sense for him to chase hopeless balls in the 20th.

Victor was quality last night, really accomplished performance all round. He actually looks really good on the ball these days ffs!
