What's needed

From our current first team squad the only outfield player I want see wearing an Everton shirt in 3 years time is Digne.

That says everything about the rest.
If we want to stay mediocre and struggle then keep them all.

My understanding is that we have aspirartions though and that means even though Marco has added some quality compared to last season, we are not a good team and what we have are gap fills and not the solution.

Many of us identified pre-season that this season would have to be a right-off. We haven't been let down.
Such a lot to do, we have to hope we have the right people leading the change.

This and so much more! We really have underachieved in so many areas. We were badly performing by the time of the PL era, no doubt due to the 80's successes being recent enough to prevent huge resentment from the fans over what was a rapid decline from the top to mediocrity. The 95 cup win under Joe Royle also was a sticking plaster on the underlying rot. If only Joe had been backed by the board, who knows what someone instilled with Everton being winners could have achieved.

Indeed.

Johnson wouldn’t let Joe sign Torre Andre Flo and look at hiw he played fir Chelsea, who did sign him.

I often wonder what would have happened if Joe Royle had stayed on as manager. I suspect we would have been a much more feared team and you'd not getting many teams fancying an away day at Goodison at the very least. Would he have bought success? I guess we'll never know...

Pickford
??? Mina ??? Digne
??? ??? ???
??? ??? Richarlison
7 players needed, top quality with a winning mentality

2 of them must be captains and inspirational

I think we will get 4 in the summer

Well....he did bring us the last bit of success we did have so there is no reason to think he wouldn’t have brought some more :)

I posted elsewhere yesterday about the huge savings that need to be made, it all needs to begin with a mass clear-out to reduce to squad size, and to stop absolutely flushing money down the toilet. We're paying about £750k p/w to lads who have contributed nothing this season. That's absolutely criminal and unsustainable.

In the summer we need to actively offload: Stekelenburg, Martina, Browning, Galloway, Garbutt, Pennington, Jagielka, Baines, Williams, McCarthy, Schneiderlin, Besic, Bolasie, Mirallas, Tarashaj, Niasse, Tosun.

That's a hell of a squad trim, and we'd only need a replacement LB, CM, and CF to cover all those losses. There's plenty of players who we should sell if the right offer comes in too, but I'm sure we'd all disagree over who that should be.

That leaves us with a permanent squad of about 17, 19 if Zouma and Gomes were to stay which I hope they both do.

Over to you Marcel, hell of a summer on your hands to dig us out of this mess.

A bit slow today lads.

Mina is not good enough so delete him from any top quality line up.

The supporters who attend the match need to get behind the players as the atmosphere on match days is toxic, you imagine playing on a Sunday with just with one man and his dog watching and berating your every touch/move/decision.
You'd shrink and not want the ball (maybe, may e not but you get what I mean) now imagine 30-40 thousand people doing the same to you!

WE are the twelfth man, we should be pushing them positively forward whether winning, drawing or losing.

Negativity will only breed negativity.
I believe positively starts with the fans, if the players know that we are behind them they'll respond positively.
We are Everton, the players are Everton,
let's push each other forward.

We have slept walked into our current position beginning the day John Moores died and left us adrift in the increasingly expensive pursuit of glory.
Even when Kendall created one of the finest sides ever, we were running on half empty.
Our failure to create any kind history in Europe has compounded our fall from grace.
We are far diminished from what we once where and any potential return is currently highly unlikely.
