What if Moyes had today's budgets?

Would Everton have won more under Moyes with today's spending power?

De Gea
Evra
Ferdinand
Rooney
Mata
Vidic
Wellbeck
Van Persie
Valencia
Kagawa
Fellaini
Lingard
Young
Carrick
Smalling
Jones

...there's eight amongst that lot still in this United team now.
Last legs - Carrick, Vidic, Rooney, Ferdinand, Evra, RVP.
Crap - Lingard, Kagawa.

How many of those eight start week in, week out? De Gea, Smalling I guess, Valencia cuz he's a jack of all trades. And have you seen them play, it's legitimately worse than us but with these supposedly amazingly better players.

Comparing our team to Moyes' United at the time - which of those would you have playing for us then, in 2013/14, if they're all so amazing?

FWIW I've spoken to loads of United mates and they're pretty much all of the opinion that Moyes was there at the wrong time - right after SAF proved he can win the league with tosh players and complete his legacy, a complete rebuild job for a team where time is nonexistent and something you won't be given.

1st to 7th and winning 25 fewer points than the previous season. That is failure on a grand scale.

And most of that United team would have played for us that 2013/14 season. The beauty of that season for us was that we got performances out of older players we never dreamed they had in them.

Just like Martinez' second and third seasons were failures then? :)

Relative failures with less resources at his disposal, yes. Unquestionably. To finish bottom half twice was failure. The cup runs in the third season just about justified the slippage in that last season, but it was still failure, yes.

Moyes was no stranger to spending big money on players that he fancied.

If he'd had the vast sums available now, we'd have qualified for the CL more often, I'm sure, and we'd have won a cup or two also.
