The poll and thread title is confusing people - I thought the poll was "Were we ever this bad under Martinez", so I was about to vote "Yes" because at times we were worse under Martinez.

I didn't see that the poll was "Would you have bobby back..." until the last moment.

So I'd ignore the results if I was you :)

Agree. I voted No about having Martinez back. But I would have voted Yes for 'were we ever this bad' because we have been worse even in my time supporting the club which does not include the times we were in the 2nd tier. Worse under Smith when we were getting dumped out of the FA Cup 3-0 by Tranmere and during the constant relegation battles in the late 90's/early 2000s.

kinda funny when you read threads like this. its like walker never exsisted or we never escaped relegation on the final day of the season.

things have been much much worse in the past. I get it isn't great at the moment and football is not good enough from us, this season is a write off. we needed to stablise and keep in the prem which we are doing, next season be better for sure

Look lads, the benchmark isnt Martinez, the benchmark isnt Moyes, nor is it Koeman, Walker, Smith or Unsy, the benchmark is Kendall, Royle and Catterick.
Currently we are hoping to get someone good enough to elevate us to Kendall mkIII levels, let alone the rest of them you mentioned.
We are so bad that being mediocre is currently a pipe dream we can only aspire to.
Those guys above are dim and distant myths from a bygone era, from some Narnia'esque fictional club of legend, with no resemblance to the one we currently support.

"Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief, shining moment, that was known as Camelot."

Everton season 2013/14 - the best since Kendall's first period in charge.

Please dont mention Martinez in relation to Samosaurus, it's like comparing Joy Division to Chaz and Dave.
Didn’t sustain it though did he?

Yep

The key fro me moving forward is getting the right manager/coaching staff in.
Someone with passion and a burning desire to succeed. A manager who can combine the good points of the poor managers we have had since the very good but ultimately unsuccessful Moyes left.

I am beyond the point of blaming the players.
Tottenham the RS and Cities management team are getting the very best out of their squads.

Every single player here is underperforming from Pickford through to the Strikers. What would Pep do with Lookman, Vlasic, Sigurdsson etc
They are not useless but they are being made to look less effective than the current Wigan Athletic side.

Such a disgraceful period this, one when we finally have finances to attempt to make inroads, and we have a bunch of dinosaurs and a clueless board to direct it.

I genuinely think that Martinez had gone a bit bonkers towards the end of his tenure, so it was probably best all round that he got the boot when he did. ( obvs very good for his bank balance ). So it`s a moot point really ( imo )

Always helps if you read the poll question before you answer. I'd not have Martinez back in a million years. One reasonable season does not a career make.

It was brilliant that year wasn't it. Wonder what might have been if we'd managed to hold on to 4th place that year.

Whole different ball game, probably. The value of the club would have shot up and might have deterred that 'kin gormless oaf Moshiri from bidding for us and we possibly could have attracted a real billionaire.
