Wenger and Arteta Partnership?

The Wenger rumours are not beyond the realms of possibility given the Mishiri / Usmanov Arsenal connections.

Just honestly don't know on this one. Maybe Wenger just needs a new challenge? Maybe he is a busted flush?

Undeniably he was a great manager who had a tangible effect on the whole English game with regards to fitness and diets and youth development / signing overseas players with potential. Noticeably less successful once the rest of the league caught on / up.

Wenger is past it and has been left behind by younger managers and wouldn't even make a good DOF given his track record over the last few years. Arteta has never managed a club in his career.

And why would it appeal to Wenger anyway? Has to be cosier numbers for a man of his age...especially given the amount of national jobs there will be after the WC.

Exactly.

Heres one. Paul Clement has had more experience and pedigree as an assistant and won trophies with Ancelloti everywhere he went at top clubs.

He's not good enough to be a manager.

Yet some think Arteta would be?

Insanity.
...but but, but he's got badges.....

I think that at present we are stuck in a no man's land regarding managers.

We are not attractive enough for the high profile elite managers unless they are already on a downward curve in their careers.

We are too big and it is a huge risk to give the job to a young manager with no experience or indeed a successful coach from an inferior league.

We have seen this season just how quickly a club can fall apart from what appeared to be a solid base.

The marriage of an elder statesman general manager/dof working with a younger manager/ coach for two or three seasons would bring a wealth of knowledge and experience together with youthful exuberance and fresh ideas.

This season has been poor but the addition of four or five new players onto the best of what we have could mean a very different next season.

..I don’t know, I haven’t got a clue if it would work. The thought of Wenger as a DoF appeals.
Would be ideal, don't think he'd consider it though, if France have a bad time in the WC I could see him taking over as the national coach

Klopp and Pochettino have both won nothing whilst Wenger has 3 FA cups. How exactly has he been left behind? Because he had a patchy season in the league last season?

He is the only manager outside of the big 3 (and Leicester) to win anything of note in ages.

And a patchy season in the league this season underlining Arsenal's gradual decline over recent years. You could point at Arsenals patchy league record against the sides with whom they are supposed to be competing. Another thing to point at is a number of players who have left Arsenal and then made remarks that could be seen as critical of his qualities as a coach and tactician.

3 FA Cups is a good haul and I'd love for Everton to win it again. But it's a knock-out competition against a widely varying standard of opposition who view it with a widely varying degree of priority. Roberto Di Matteo won it, and the CL, with Chelsea and Martinez at Wigan. Would you rate them as better managers than those who have yet to win anything of note in the English game?
