One of my favourite things about the narratives surrounding Dyche is how he replaced a poor defensive coach whose defense had been allowing 1.4 goals per game over the league season, and in the rest of the season with the exact same personnel available he improved that to 1.6 goals allowed per game. As in, the defense got worse under his watch than it was under a poor defensive coach. (Unless I miscalculated, which I don't think I did; it looks like Lampard got 20 games, in which we allowed 28 goals, and Dyche got 18, in which we allowed 29 goals.)
