Couldn’t help myself so watched a little of SD’s post match interview seeing how many times he mentioned ‘shape’, ‘mentality’ and the ‘basics’ of the game. I didn’t time it but I’m sure they were all mentioned in the first 30 seconds.

The guy has nothing else in his managerial toolkit. Same at every club regardless of quality of playing staff.

What do you make of Moyes comments like knife to a gunfight and saying we'd need to be at our best and Newcastle at their worst when they were below us...

He also puts Everton as the underdog as much as he can. Complains about recruitment (which he ran) and makes it sound like everything is an uphill struggle.

Sounds like with so many of them doing this it could be a common personality trait or media training?
I don't think Moyes is a long term manager for us. His comments would wear thin and he'd rightly be called out for them, if he persists and we don't progress each season. As it stands, he easily and immediately fixed the mess dyche had us in last season. He also has us in a decent league position this season (better than expected, if we are being honest), despite significant change to the squad and not being able to rectify all the positions that need addressing. He at least deserves your support for that.

I've taken them as far as I can
The players aren't doing what I ask
I want my pay off, and more importantly my survival bonus even though someone else has earned it.

It's not a pretty picture.
That's all true and was basically his way chucking the job which he was mad to do btw. No sympathy for him and as I said, I don't even like him. Would never want to be stuck in a room listening to his waffle.

However, when certain people literally just invent falsehoods about his tenure as a reason to hate him, it's weird and embarrasing. Like accusing him of saying things he didn't say. Blaming him for things that were well out of his control. Acting like he never adequately managed the club out of the worst crisis in our history arguably.

He, along with Ancelotti, is the only manager ever appointed during Moshiri's tenure who actually fulfilled his remit. He earnt the payout he was obviously so desperate for. Here, take it and off you go.

Ancelotti didn’t fulfil his remit at all? He finished 12th and 10th, his remit was to get us into the Champions League or Europe. Allardyce was the only one who exceeded his remit if we really want to play that game. If Dyche fulfilled his remit then technically so did Lampard.

I don't know much about the invented falsehoods. I stuck to the truth as far as I know it.
I'm prepared to critique regards the conceding an opener issue. When we were drawing and defending a draw we were still in a game, but it folded badly once we'd gone a goal down. A couple of times we were hammered rather badly. The after match stuff was annoying, it does have echoes of martinez.
I reckon he could have been much firmer with his condemnation of the points deductions, but used them to galvanise the side, so what cuts one way does another.
I consider the Palace, the Wimbledon and the bournemouth final games as equal in terms of jeopardy. Moyes earned safety, not him. But legal contracts are mine fields.

Dyche has won against European opposition like Porto - currently riding high at the top of the Portuguese League.

Ilm not sure why playing teams like that are not more than capable of being compared with some of the dross in the PL.

7 wins from his first 15 in charge.

That's just how it is.
It's all about experience in the latter stages of the competition - QFs/SFs on - and Arsenal have hardly any in recent seasons.

I dont care about ratings and co-efficients: when the 💩 hits the fan and players have to stand up the likes of PSG, Bayern, Madrid, Barcelona, City, Atletico and unfortunately Liverpool all have a better chance than Arsenal.
Small world. :/

Carlo was originally brought in to keep us up. (In a worse position with less games left to save us than Allardyce had). He fulfilled his remit that first season. He then got 59 points which would have got us in Europe both the season before and after.

Lampard fulfilled the brief in his first half season as well, of keeping us up.

Same as Dyche did the next season.

Lampard, Benitez and Dyche all went on to leave us in a perilous situation as well though. Which was definitely not their brief.

I think we all know that’s not at all why he was brought in. It’s weird to pretend he was imo.

That was his remit in his first 6 months though, same way it was for Allardyce. And he didn’t get any January signings to do so.

I personally don’t think we needed Allardyce as don’t feel we needed ‘saving’. But the general rhetoric is that he was brought in to save us, so that must stretch to Carlo as well. As like I say, we were lower down the table, closer to relegation zone with less games left to play.

Ok, but then Allardyce finished 8th and Ancelotti finished 12th? And Ancelotti had a much better squad.

Anyway back on topic, Dyche is a ginger bald fraud who is taking the scabs down.

Yeah but they ended on the same points total. (Carlo had quite a bit better ppg than Allardyce). Just shows how close the league can be in those middle spaces.

The positive thing about both Allardyce and Carlo, is when they left us, they left us comfortably safe from relegation. Unlike some others.

They undoubtedly both left us in a better league position than they inherited. The same can’t be said for the Thatcher loving subject of this thread.
