If all of that was true then anyone with a bit of club passion would be a good manager but that isn't true.

When was the last time even an assistant let alone an academy manager in this country even made it as a manager? I know pep was a kids coach and jose was an assistant but that was at Barcelona , when was the last time in this country anyone had any success stepping up from such a position?

What about Paul Jewell, Dave jones, Peter Reid, Lee carsley ? They are all blues pretty much who have managerial experience much higher than unsworth. Why don't we hope for them as well? Sure they would jump at the chance of a job

Well I think those that follow the U23's would argue he is a good manager, both in terms of player development and setting his teams up to win. It's all relative based on the talent at his disposal, and who he's going against. I see no reason he can't produce similar results with better talent at his disposal, just as one might wonder what he'll do against teams with better quality.

Of course it's unknown, but everything is unknown until it happens.

Unsy came accross very well. He was composed, confident and diplomatic where required. Said exactly the right things regarding Barkley who was grossly mishandled by RK. Every effort should be made to get Barks to sign simply to protect a valuable asset.
What was missing was any detail regarding a vision of how the team should play but hopefully he's keeping that on the training pitch.
Delighted he's going to get a chance and would love to see him seize it.

If he can bring to the first team what he has to the U23s, then I see us doing very well with him. He has a winning mentality, which is a number one priority IMHO.
Keep in mind, the test of a great manager is how he reacts when things are going bad, dips in form, injuries, bad luck, etc. The manager, the leader, the mentor, has to keep that winning mentality through thick and thin.
A loss, or a draw should be regarded as an unwanted anomaly and not something to be "expected" at our club.
Good luck, Rhino!

I look at Leicester sacking Ranieri and giving it to Shakespear. He put a few good results together and is now out the door.I don't want Unsy to go that way.His time to manage Everton full time will come,it just isn't now for me.
This, I don't like the talk coming out about him being judged on a game-by-game basis.

Fact is, he shouldn't be the #1 choice and that's not a sleight on him but a reflection of his experience so far. Like you say, maybe one day just not today.

What we don't know is if this is truly an audition for Unsy or a planned short term placeholder (which even he doesn't know at this point). If it's truly an audition, give the man until the January window. If he's not ready, then by all means bring in someone else to work with Walsh on the next window.

This is what he said in his presser:

Who wouldn't want this job? It is a wonderful football club with amazing fans and it is a top job for any manager, myself included. The chairman, Farhad and the board have given me an amazing opprtunity to hopefully get a run of games where performance levels go up and we produce some wins as well. From that performances and results will dictate any future for me as an Everton manager.

So he's being given first crack, whether that means we are not speaking to anyone in the meantime I can't say.
