The money tree has been shook far too many times recently and somethings going to have to give.

Big question is how do all the other NATO countries look with regards to military spend?

IIRC all of them are increasing it

As for the Independent, its remarkable it took so long for the papers to notice that they were still cutting the military. Its even more remarkable that the debate is still about numbers rather than what they are wasting the money on (procurement, the deal with Annington Homes).

As for the Independent, its remarkable it took so long for the papers to notice that they were still cutting the military. Its even more remarkable that the debate is still about numbers rather than what they are wasting the money on (procurement, the deal with Annington Homes).

The regular component of the army is less than half the size of what it was in the mid 80s, and now only about 40k could be deployed with full kit.

In terms of sustained combat, we’re talking about a months work of supplies, if that. We couldn’t do a 2003 Iraq let alone a ‘91.

As for the Independent, its remarkable it took so long for the papers to notice that they were still cutting the military. Its even more remarkable that the debate is still about numbers rather than what they are wasting the money on (procurement, the deal with Annington Homes).

Numbers matter though and it's hard to get past the huge reduction in soldiers and numbers of tanks (for example).

As a result of systematic bullying (as long as many other things and fearmongering tbh) we've removed the Russian embassy mission from Bulgaria essentially.

Their mission to Bulgaria is 70+ people. The Czech also removed a mission of 60ish people recently, I believe (@Bruce Wayne )? Ours in Russia are 15, and they hard limit them and what they can even do lol
