Or Nigeria, or Venezuela, or Myanmar...etc. etc.

Unfortunately the architect of this horror show has been busy putting plans in place for a long time. The article below evidencing some handiwork.

Russia Ramps up Global Elections Interference: Lessons for the United States | Strategic Technologies Blog | CSIS
Although Moscow has interfered in elections in post-Soviet states for decades, Russian interference through cyberattacks, hack-and-leak operations, and online disinformation campaigns has escalated throughout Europe in recent years.www.csis.org
He does need to be dealt with IMO as I cannot see anyway that he will stop with this disgrace. The west has a true challenge to the post WWII order and I would hate to see what the world would look like should this authoritarian grab for power win.
If the idea was that we allow a dictatorial world order to assume control then that idea should be enough for any man to take up arms, in my post Everton opinion.Indeed, and reading that peace shows what needs to be done especially in the social media sphere. Are we going to do that? Doubtful.
We should be tightening up our anti-money-laundering laws, have higher transparency into political party funding and media influence, strengthen domestic resilience to be able to cope with global disturbances, etc.Even when this ends, sanctions on Russia should be maintained and even strengthened until there's regime change and reparations. Squeeze them for decades if necessary.

We, and most countries to be fair, have been caught with our pants down because we've turned blind eyes due to dirty money and cheap goods or energy. We cannot let the Russias of this world have the ability to think that they can hold us to ransom.
I do believe that we should be open to bringing Russia back into the fold to prevent this happening again. With the right strong approach to not tolerating their kleptocracy and a significant regime change and an acceptable resolution to the Ukrainian invasion, it should be the goal - unfortunately I don't envisage this any time soon.
I'm quite the Russophile and always decried NATO, but right now I have to change my stance as I don't know how we can trust a single thing Russia says when we see what they do.
