IMO, obvs, US foreign policy still has, deep down at its core, the feeling / belief that Johnny Foregner wants to 'be American'.

Rightly or wrongly, if the Ukranians get hold of them (I don't mean the perpetrators, but rather Russian soldiers) they'll not be shown much mercy.

Russians are bad enough to share a beach on holiday with never mind rampaging through your country with weapons.

As soon as they invaded I said they'd be raping people, it was an absolute certainty.

I hope the West never lifts sanctions with Russia or trusts them again.

I disagree about sanctions; I think we should make it clear that once a peace deal is reached sanctions will start to be stood down.

The trust issue we should absolutely make clear to the rest of the world, that with this cheap oil and gas comes a threat they will exploit.

The best counter to that would be to offer to the rest of the world cheap (ideally, free) decentralised power grids with renewable technology. Combine that with doing it ourselves and it would hit him in the wallet far more effectively than sanctions ever would. It would also considerably boost our flagging rep.

I wouldn't have a problem with barring Russian entry to our own country for anything other than defection.

However unfortunately they provide huge amounts of money as tourists which some countries rely on.

Like everything, the strength of sanctions relies upon the unity of Nations against them, once countries opt out they lose their strength.

I've little doubt the sanctions will be lifted, I just believe they shouldn't be as long as their is a continuance of the Russian political party and policies in power over there and without actual charges and justice for Russian war crimes and reparations for Ukraine.

This is likely never to happen and without this changing, morally there is no reason to lift sanctions.

I’m not going to generalise and apologise to all if I insinuated.

By Russians I’m talking about the Russian army. Most professional armies have their fair share of rogues and scumbags, but they are bound together by discipline and control and a deep rooted sense of what is right and wrong.

The Russian army seem to lack any sense of leadership or control and given the rhetoric coming from the Russian Duma they believe they have a right to act this way.

So in response, you could and should begin with banning travel forever for all members of Russias leading elite.

There are decent Russian people however they getting locked up for speaking out against this vile war.

My advice is don’t generalise, these people will be brought to account and they will pay for their crimes. The Ukranian armed forces are currently dishing out revenge in bucket loads.

The other thing with regards to reparations is that the level that Germany were subjected to after WWI indirectly led to the rising of the Nazi party and WWII.

However I don't expect Russia to either admit culpability or pay reparations and this will be left to the "evil" West to pick up the pieces again.
